“”The last presidential election was a dry run for the next,” cautioned Luttig, who in January 2021 advised then-Vice President Mike Pence against assisting Trump in delaying President Joe Biden’s win.”

Enough said.

Hi.

I’m sorry to bother you.

I’ve heard this name before, but can’t place it.

J. Michael Luttig

Former judge. Maybe a second amendment case?

Thanks.

There’s just too much out there today to claim there was
not massive vote fraud.

Gathering votes from the elderly who didn’t even know their
own name, their family member’s names, or the name of the
candidates or their policies?

Mules delivering multiple ballots to over 200 drop boxes.

Legislatures allowing just anyone to change the voting rules
when the U. S. Constitution says only the legislatures can.

A blind paraplegic could find the low hanging fruit in this
national gymnasium.

It has gone far beyond the original coup to remove a
sitting president here. Now it’s the people who are aiding
and abetting them.

Guys like this guy should be prosecuted for covering for
all the illegality.

“The independent state legislature doctrine derives from a reading of the Constitution, which provides that ‘the times, places and manner of holding elections for senators and representatives, shall be prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof.’ A separate provision says that presidential elections shall also be conducted in a manner determined by the state ‘legislature.’ “Both clauses refer to state legislatures, not state courts or state governors, so the idea behind the independent state legislature doctrine is that the legislative branch of each state gets to decide how federal elections are conducted without any input whatsoever from the other branches.”

Sounds great to me! The state legislatures can appoint presidential electors as well.

article: "federal judge appointed by former President George H.W. Bush"

Stopped reading right there. Someone should dig up H.W. and run his coffin through a wood chipper.

The independent state legislature doctrine says that, under the Elections and the Electors Clauses of the Constitution, state legislatures possess plenary and exclusive power over the conduct of federal presidential elections and the selection of state presidential electors. Not even a state supreme court, let alone other state elections officials, can alter the legislatively written election rules or interfere with the appointment of state electors by the legislatures, under this theory.

It’s always been my understanding that the constitution authorizes state legislatures to select methods by which presidential electors are chosen. Every state chooses electors by popular vote within the states. A state could choose electors by some other method.

Maybe I’m missing the point of this article. He makes it sound as if it is a threat to the survival of the nation, if people take these parts of the constitution and the Electoral Count Act seriously. Is it a threat to apply those legal provisions to situations, in which there are questions or problems regarding the conduct of the elections by which electors are chosen?

But maybe I’m just missing something. State legislatures have always had the power to choose electors, but apparently shouldn’t exercise that authority according to him.

It’s a threat to the constitution to follow the constitution?

Someone please enlighten me as to what I’m missing here.
