Top congressional Democrats on Thursday announced legislation they said would lower gas prices for consumers, as rising costs imperil Democrats' chances of maintaining their majorities in November’s elections.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said they would bring legislation to their respective chambers giving the Federal Trade Commission more authority to combat gasoline price manipulation. The lawmakers blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as a factor in rising costs, as well as what they called profiteering by “Big Oil.”.....
In response to a question about arguments from Republicans that the United States should increase its own domestic energy production in response to rising costs, Pelosi and Schumer argued oil companies are not doing so, instead looking to increase their own profits.
Schumer and Pelosi argued that Democrats' legislation would reduce costs while saying Republicans were looking to score political points by blaming President Joe Biden and Democrats for rising prices.
“Democrats are taking action to help Americans. Our Republican colleagues only lift a finger — finger, point blame, try to seek political advantage, get nothing done,” Schumer said.

Right. So oil companies would rather NOT pump two million more barrels of oil at $100+. And in today's environment I doubt it would go down much. According to the Democrats they would rather leave it in the ground.

Price manipulation is what the government is guilty of, since, Biden and democrats closed oil pipelines and forbid new production of oil in the U.S. So, however much the fule prices have gone up, it’s because of Biden and democrats and their climate change agenda. That’s where the the manipulation of fuel prices got started.
Get the government out of the oil industry, and prices will come down almost immediately.
Without the oil companies we would have no gasoline.
President Putin has nothing to do with it. This is a problem directly traceable to the Democrats. Now they better own up to it.
They are extremely offensive to most of us!

......assuming arguendo that “Putin did it” (re high gas prices), it just slays me that the marxist Dems are trying to slither out of responsibility for Oregon Cities burning to the ground, CRT in class rooms, CRT in the military, Minnesota cities burned to the ground, 85 billion in equipment left in Afghanistan, scores, hundreds or even thousands of Americans left in Afghanistan to be slaughtered by the talliwhackers, 13 dead Marines!, Covidian murders of thousands, clinical depression of tens of thousands of children due to being locked down, devastation of the dollar from printing money, off the chart inflation, defunding the cops, letting illegal immigrants in the country by the millions, stealing/electing a mentally diseased president with a retarded back up, getting us into a WAR, feminizing the military, queering the military, destroying NYC and on and on and on. Arguably, high gas prices is the least of our worries.
Democrats apply sanctions on the US as they pretend fighting Russia as an alibi.

In this case, even in the year leading up to the election, they told us what they were going to do. A large number of Americans didn’t pay the least bit of attention, but other people did.
People who had to bet their investments on whether the price of oil was going to go up or down, and how much or how difficult the oil exploration environment was going to be DID pay attention.
Everyone with half a brain saw that it was going to be more difficult and expensive to search for oil, drill for oil, transport oil, and refine oil.
Which means a monkey wrench is thrown into the process. And the Democrat talking points are “Canceling Keystone has nothing to do with it, because it wouldn’t have been finished for two years.”
And so on.
Driving to Myrtle Beach from Charlotte today, I saw $3.429....but didn’t see the requirements (carwash, cash, etc.). Also saw $3.619, cash, regular w/10% alcohol.
We’re living in “The Producers” in real life. Everyone gets a 10% of ownership share.
Heating oil went up to $5.20 / gallon at the wholesaler today.
They need to either find new supplies (Venezuela?), implement price controls (which would cause shortages) or limit usage (coupon books?). And remember that demand usually goes up in the summer - vacations, etc. - which will aggravate the situation.
To solve the problem, kill off the envirowackos waging war on America.

Nobody’s going to buy it. Biden promised to wage war on fossil fuels on the campaign trail and cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline on day 1 of his administration. Then he cancelled a bunch of leases on federal lands. Oil prices and inflation were rising long before the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out.
Don’t worry, they’ll start blaming the grocery stores for price gouging by this summer. 🤣

Yeah, like how they were all over GWB about GWII because he was an oil man and the oil guys wanted more oil but he was also behind stuff that would restrict supply because less oil would help the oil guys. Idiots.
Life is hard.
But we don’t need any Democrats to make it harder.
That is all they do.
Perhaps we Americans should fix that problem.
