Karachi [Pakistan], April 27 (ANI): The husband of the woman who blew herself up at Karachi University in Pakistan said her selfless act has left him speechless but he is proud of what she did.
On Tuesday, an explosion took place near Confucius Institute — a Chinese language teaching centre at Karachi University.
Taking to Twitter, Afghan journalist Bashir Ahmad Gwakh said that Habitan Bashir Baloch, husband of female suicide bomber Shari Baloch, tweeted from an unknown location saying that he is proud of what she did. He also informed that Shari Baloch has had two kids (8 and 5 years old). Her husband, Habitan Bashir Baloch, is a dentist and her father was a lecturer. Gwakh also shared a snapshot of the tweet posted by Baloch’s husband. The tweet stated, “Shari Jan, your selfless act has left me speechless but I am also beaming with pride today. Mahroch and Meer Hassan will grow into very proud humans thinking what a great woman there was. You will continue to remain an important part of our lives.”
Talking about the first ‘Baloch woman to carry out a suicide attack’, Afghan journalist Gwakh informed that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) said the 30-year-old joined the group two years ago and volunteered herself for a “self-sacrificing mission”.
She had a Master’s degree in Zoology and MPhil in education while teaching at a school, Gwakh said. Earlier, Gwakh shared CCTV footage showing a burqa-clad woman, blowing herself up as the van passes through the road.
In an explosion, at least four people, including three Chinese citizens, were killed and several others were injured.
The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan condemned the blast inside the premises of a University in Karachi. Meanwhile, in the wake of a deadly attack inside the premises of Karachi University, it has decided to remain suspended for Wednesday. (ANI)
This women kills a couple of people with a bomb. She leaves behind two young children. And her husband - a very educated man - beams with pride.
We’re told over and over again that all cultures are equal. I’m having a bit of trouble squaring that with what happened here.
I suspect she really believed in what she was doing. There are extremely few female suicide bombers. And those people do not fake this stuff, all of those candidates are watched and tested and if anything is “off” about them they are not going to be allowed to compromise who else they are working with.
My friends Japan was the same way. Just look at what we had to do to put a stop to it. This time it will be harder.
I think she was brainwashed. A natural woman doesn’t do that to her kids.
They should arrest the family members and put the children into foster care.
Someone said she had the look of a “westerner”. Maybe.
But that stupid hippie “peace” sign and the insipid face make me think, yes, she is.

In our culture the palm out is supposed to be “peace”, the palm in is supposed to be “victory”. Which latter I prefer, knowing what these morons’ view of “peace” is.

I don’t know what it may have meant to this woman, but she didn’t need to have been educated - all she needed was to see it used within her own culture in certain contexts, for it to have a meaning. It obviously meant something to her, and not necessarily the ‘stupid hippie peace sign’.

I meant I am pretty well educated to have an idea of what goes on in the world, even on an every-day culture level. Not a lot, and not real-world experience, but reasonably well read. I was not referring to this woman’s level of education.
I wasn’t commenting on your level of education - just on what the sign may have meant to the woman.
It might have meant ‘victory’ to her, too; or something else that we wouldn’t recognize at all because we are not grounded in her culture.

Suicide bombers kill themselves. Bombers who kill other people are Homicide Bombers.
