Why would this ever even get past the “brainstorming” phase?

Nobody on planet earth has ever said: “gee, 24-hour cable news channels are great, but 24 hours a day is not enough, I need even more cable news and I would be willing to pay extra for it”.

The very notion that every cable channel should start their own separate streaming service was already dumb, but for a channel like CNN, it’s profoundly dumb.
