At least six dead as multiple explosions hit Kabul schools

The blasts occurred in the Dasht-i-Barchi area of the Afghan capital, home to a large Shia Hazara community, a minority group previously targeted by extremists.

There has been no official claim of responsibility for the apparent attack and it is possible the death toll could rise.

In May 2021, a bombing at the Sayed Al-Shuhada girls' school in the area killed at least 85 people, mostly teenage girls.

The Taliban, who ruled Afghanistan from 1996-2001, seized control of the country in August 2021 as the US government withdrew all of its troops from the country. Since then the country has seen a number of attacks from Taliban rivals including IS Khorasan (ISIS-K), an affiliate of ISIS.

ISIS-K claimed responsibility for a suicide attack at Kabul airport in August last year which killed more than 170 people, as well as a spate of attacks in the eastern city of Jalalabad in September.

The boys’ own religion strikes again, “killing at least 85 people, mostly teenage girls.”

Excellent writing. Leave out the parts about how American soldiers were killed after our woke generals negotiated for the Taliban to provide security outside the airport, and the senile Resident insisting on throwing out everything Trump, including Trumps measured withdrawal plan from Afghanistan.

If you want two reasons why America should not be involved in the Ukraine-Russian war, it's woke generals that don't know how to win, and a eff'n low-IQ, illegitimate President that has to make up stories about Cornpop to sound tough.

There are some things one doesn’t get concerned about these days....and shouldn’t.

"why did we spend 20 years and even one Americans life in this perpetual war zone?"

On 9/12/01, we should have pulled every page from the William T. Sherman playbook, punitively levelled their centers of government with massive B-52, B-1 and B-2 strikes, salted the poppy fields and been done with it.

Joe - in my opinion we started off good. very good.

The USA in 2001 was supported by literally everyone in getting rid of the Taliban and destroying Al Qaeda.

This went off the rails in 2003 by starting the Iraq war II. That diverted resources - we should have invaded Pakistan and killed Osama at that point.

If we had done THAT then

1. No Osama, Al Qaeda headless and destroyed
2. No Saddam gone, leaving a vacuum for both the Sunni Islamic state and the expansion of Iranian power
3. Saudi Arabia focused on Iraq and Iran, with no money to spend on the slaughter in Yemen or sponsoring global fundamentalism (including the Taliban).
4. No dimocrat “we will stop the wars” - so no Obama (or Biden).

Really - in 2002, the USA liberated people in Afghanistan from a horrific regime. we did GOOD, we were loved.

We should have split Afghanistan into its constituent parts (Tajiks to Tajikistan, Uzbeks to Uzbekistan, Hazaras and folks in the west to Iran and let the Pashtuns merge with their ethnic compatriots in Pakistan’s NWFP).

and then LEFT in 2004/2005.

But we got caught in political games.

To be brutal, dfwgator is correct.

This internal violence isn’t a threat to the USA. The threat to the USA is if either the Taliban or the Islamic state get dominance over the other. If that happens, then it becomes a threat to the USA.

It isn’t a threat to India either, but it may be a threat to Pakistan - the anti-Shia violence will prompt Iranian intervention, which will p!$$ off the Pakis.

Obviously could have been done better, but the total withdrawal from Afghanistan was not only appropriate but came ten years too late.
