Growing up, I would catch scenes from the show “Barney Miller,” a sitcom centered around a New York City police precinct. I was too young to understand most of the jokes but my parents loved it (my dad was a cop). In four decades, I hadn’t seen a scene from the show since they originally aired.
When the video below was sent to me, I figured it would be another loose connection between what we’re seeing today with a mention of “The New World Order” or something. As it turned out, the predictions (predictive programming?) were striking. Replace the bad guys joked about in that clip with the bad guys of today and… hmm.

I watched a lot of Barney Miller when it was in first run.
Like so many TV shows, it was good entertainment, but almost every episode had some sort of “woke before woke was cool” message.
Oy thanks for posting. I do remember seeing that several years ago. Good to post it now.
A stretch, I know but...
Unbelievable! That episode wouldn’t be allowed to air today.
Seems to put down the ‘warning’ as some kind of nut-job conspiracy.
Lol. You wanna see what couldn’t be shown today, not even in theaters without an “R” rating.. Watch s1e1 of “Sanford and son”
I watched occasionally, but missed this episode.
That’s true.
One episode has me thinking of the Doris Day song as “gay sir rod sir rod.😏
It wasn’t a warning. It was ridicule. The CIA invented the term “conspiracy theory” to cancel The John Birch Society, which was saying the same exact things.
Jeffery Tambor always looked old
Suspicions about the true nature of the Trilateral Commission was a thing in 1981 (the date of this episode,) so this episode wasn't very prophetic, it was more a reflection of the times.
“what couldn’t be shown today”
Every episode of “All in the Family”.
I remember my father being utterly amazed that Redd Foxx was even going to be on TV. Like a lot of men of his era, he had heard some of Redd’s nightclub material, NSFW by *any* standards. Redd was a master of comedic timing second to none.

Lots of shows today like this one ridiculing nut-job conspiracists.

Lawanda Page had a bit out called Backdoor Daddy. It was filthy.
And funny.
“Behold, a Pale Horse,,,”
.
Another Warning.
“Has anyone seen my legs”?
later
David Rockefeller died in January 1979 in a place he owned in Manhattan, where a 25-year old aide lived. Unless you think he faked his death in a highly embarassing way?
