SAS troops ‘are training local forces in Ukraine’
The Times ^ | 15-APR-2022 | Catherine Philp

SAS troops have trained local forces in Kyiv for the first time since the war with Russia began, Ukrainian commanders have told The Times.

Officers from two battalions stationed in and around the capital said they had undergone military training from serving British special forces, one last week and the other the week before.

Captain Yuriy Myronenko, whose battalion is stationed in Obolon on the northern outskirts of Kyiv, said that military trainers had come to instruct new and returning military recruits to use NLAWs, British-supplied anti-tank missiles that were delivered in February as the invasion was beginning.

“That is very definition of Neocon foreign policy.”

Hardly. It’s called stopping a bad precedent from being set.

But you’re far too simple minded to see any farther than the end of your nose.

Now go hump someone else’s leg.

Hardly. It’s called stopping a bad precedent from being set.

It's called Interventionism, a Neocon practice of governmental interference in economic affairs at home or in political affairs of another country, using military force as needed. See Iraq, Afghanistan for the latest blunders you Biden Republicans have gotten us into.

“It has become our business.”

How so?

The US has no real interests in Ukraine.

If the entire land mass was depopulated, then repopulated with different people tomorrow, we would not be hurt in any way.

“But it was only verbal assurance and non-binding.”

Oh, so our word isn’t worth anything. Got it.

“The US has no real interests in Ukraine.”

Agreed. But we do have other vital strategic interests in other parts of the world. If Putin manages to take Ukraine while we sit with our thumbs up our asses what do you think the Chinese will do?

They will move on Taiwan. And that would be a very, very bad thing.

So the Realpolitik of it is we assist the utterly corrupt Ukrainian government whether we like it or not.

And for the record I do not like it much at all.

Some politicians made some promises to some other politicians.

And you’re shocked they didn’t keep their word?

That’s really stupid.

Geopolitical alliances are liable to change, and rather quickly at that:

One of my favorites is how the German government helped smuggle Lenin back into Russia on April 16th, 1917 (as he had previously been living in exile in Switzerland), because the Bolsheviks were opposed to Russia's participation in the World War, and Germany wanted Russia to withdraw ASAP given America's recent involvement.

And so Germany helped sow the seeds for Bolshevik Russia and the rise of the Soviet Union.

History shows that the word of *any* country tends to lose its worth if they judge a treaty or agreement to be against their national interest.

You can’t address the substance of my argument so you resort to calling me a Biden voter.

I’ll bet you still sit at the children’s table during family gatherings.

The virtues of Neoconservativism isn't an argument. That was lost after 18 years in Afghanistan.

We aren’t discussing Afghanistan. We are discussing Ukraine.

Try to keep your limited mental acumen on point, as difficult as that may be for you.

And I’m sure that for you it’s very, very difficult.

It's your Interventionist foreign policy we're discussing. It weaves the Ukraine, to Afghanistan, to Iraq to Bush, part I and II, to your current president, Demented Joe.

“Didn’t we promise Russia back in the 90s that we wouldn’t bring NATO to their borders?”

Bush I’s SOS James Baker told the Russians that in, I think, 1991. But he was only speaking for the Bush I administration. He could not speak for or commit or obligate any future administrations.
