“All the other Russian ships have now pulled backed 80km from the Ukraine shoreline.”
Which they likely wouldn’t do if the Moskva suffered an accident, and was not damaged by hostile fire.
So, that strongly indicates the ship was sunk by hostile action.
“I do wonder why they think it’s better to admit incompetence than to admit the enemy sank a ship.”
If sunk by an accident, it’s the fault of some incompetent midshipman.
If sunk by enemy, it’s the fault of an admiral and ultimately Putin for sending the ship into a danger it was unprepared for. This threatens the regime.
MOSCOW, 14 April. /TASS/. The missile cruiser “Moskva” sank while being towed to its destination in a storm due to damage to the hull received due to a fire from the detonation of ammunition. This was reported on Thursday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“During the towing of the Moskva cruiser to the port of destination, the ship lost its stability due to damage to the hull received during the fire from the detonation of ammunition. In the conditions of stormy seas, the ship sank,” the military department said.
Losing a flagship certainly CHANGES the course of the war.
The Ukranians may be down now, but by no means out. The Russians and Vladimir Putin are getting the tar whacked out of them, and there will very definitely be a complete reordering of their order of battle.
Definitely not the all-wise and all-knowing supermen they have been made out to be.
“Possible sign they’re trying to get out of missile range.”
That’s what I think.
“So, that strongly indicates the ship was sunk by hostile action.”
Yep.
“Reportedly 54 Russian were rescued. Rest went down with the ship”
That was last nights report. If the thing was still afloat today and was in the process of being towed it’s beyond me how 350 went down with the ship as there was plenty of time to get them off and a Russian vessel towing the ship that could have provided rescue. OF course many could have been killed with the initial explosion. Fog of war.
I think the Moskva was providing air defense for the other ships and was itself standing well off the coast..

I though Little Pukin was playing 10th dimensional chess while Zelensky was playing checkers...
Putin didn’t expect this sort of response to his invasion of the Ukraine; thought the people there would be welcoming his troops with flowers and wine. He thought two days tops, maybe three to take over the Ukraine.
How big was the crew? Surely they had inflatable life boats and life jackets.
The Pentagon says she’s underway to home port under her own power.
That they are not releasing casualties hints that it was pretty bad.
If 10 sailors were killed in the explosion I assume they would admit that.
That they are not implies they are trying to figure out how to cover-up 100+ deaths.
For some reason The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald has been stuck in my head all day….
“ When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin’
Fellas, it’s too rough to feed ya
At seven pm a main hatchway caved in, he said
Fellas, it’s been good t’know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin’ in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”

Indeed
All Russian losses are good losses.
Whoa. That’s crazy.
I know it’s a Russian ship but pardon me if I feel bad for them losing it. They’ll never replace it.
If the Ukes sunk it with two missiles then either they were lucky hits on something important or the Russians really stink at damage control. It makes me sick to think it’s the latter.
And I dearly hope that more than just 54 guys got off alive.
Hell of a difference between a Naval cruiser & a “Cruise ship’....
