There is no chance Russia is going to tolerate a heavily-armed Finland in NATO. Nor should it.

We wouldn't tolerate Mexico being heavily-armed and aligned with either Russia or China.

Why does Russia tolerate a heavily-armed U.S. in NATO?

The U.S. does, after all, have territorial waters bordering Russia. And why should it?

By your twisted logic, Russia should not tolerate the presence of such a heavily-armed neighboring country.

Regards,

You may get your deepest wish fulfilled: a Russian - NATO war. You want that very badly, don’t you? You can’t stand anyone opposing Russian bullying; you think Russia — historically a bully — should be able to wield its chest-thumping without consequence, and that all “lesser” people should just meekly comply.

“There is no chance Russia is going to tolerate a heavily-armed Finland in NATO. Nor should it.”

Russia and Putin are just going to have to suck eggs on this one. First, Russia is in no position to go to war against a better trained, better equipped, and far more motivated Finland. Second, there is no second. Russia cannot take on Finland.

“We wouldn’t tolerate Mexico being heavily-armed and aligned with either Russia or China.”

We’re not doing anything that would cause Mexico to seek protection from us so this comparison is not even remotely valid.

Russia is already boarded by 3 NATO countries: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The Russian narrative that this is all about an expanding NATO is a lie. They have used it as an excuse to go to war, but I don’t believe it is grounded in any truth.

I’m tired, tired, tired of this apples and oranges comparison. None of the United States’ neighbors are in fear or danger of invasion from the US. To the contrary, the United States is far friendlier to Mexico and Canada than their status’s might warrant.

Russia, on the other hand, has a long history of invading her neighbors. Every country bordering Russia in the west has experienced a repressive Russian occupation. The reason for NATO and the reason for new countries clamoring to join NATO is because of this fact. If Russia were as benign in her sphere as the US is in hers, none of these nations would be interested in joining NATO.

We wouldn’t?
Who said?

“We” tolerated a heavily armed Cuba, with a Soviet brigade no less.

When Texas becomes independent, it will likely need a military alliance with Mexico and China.

Maybe Russia can supply some weapons too

You know, to “protect democracy.”

And here's the thing; the Neocons knows Putin is bluffing. (/s)

Mexico has been aligned with China since 1983, I know for sure. Tried to take my Taiwanese girlfriend down there to visit in that year and she was refused entry at three different ports and the "mordida" offer was refused. They simply would not let her in the country due to their alignment with China.

I agree. The reason a lot of people simply don’t get this is that they have a 1959 world view. They still see “Russia” as the bad guy and the rest of us as the good guy. That’s not the world we live in any more. There is a LOT of blame to go around.

You’re full of ——.

Joining NATO does not require arming to the teeth.

Estonia and Latvia are members of NATO and do not have heavy weapons.

If Putin attacks Finland he’s going to find out Europe won’t roll over like they did for the Ukraine.

I’m glad they didn’t engage over the Ukraine, but at some point Russia is not
going to continue this aggression without full on war.

There is no chance Russia is going to tolerate a heavily-armed Finland in NATO. Nor should it.

The Finns have every right to arm themselves enough to defend themselves. Pretty basic, natural principle, similar to the Second Amendment in this country.

We wouldn't tolerate Mexico being heavily-armed and aligned with either Russia or China

Mexico doesn't heavily arm itself against the US because the US doesn't go around invading its neighbors.

Maybe Russia should quit picking on its neighbors.

Just a thought.

But I’m sure we’d be thrilled to have Mexico or Canada invade to get rid of Nazis in the US.

Putin’s actions are causing this run to NATO by vulnerable neighbors.

“We wouldn’t tolerate Mexico being heavily-armed and aligned with either Russia or China.”

If Mexico had good reason to fear invasion from the USA, we ought to EXPECT it! NATO is not an offensive organization. It isn’t going to invade Russia. EVER! But Russia is proving THEY are willing to invade any smaller country not allied with bigger ones!

But all other countries bordering Russia are supposed to be fine with having a heavily armed country next to them?

No we just tolerate them being heavily armed by every drug cartel in the world including China, Russia and Obama.
