Russia 'moves heavy military equipment towards Finnish border'

Russian heavy weapons including missile systems have been seen moving towards the border with Finland, hours after Russia warned its northern neighbour against joining NATO.

An unconfirmed video uploaded last night appears to show two Russian coastal defence missile systems moving along a road on the Russian side of the border that leads to Helsinki.

The missile systems are thought to be the K-300P Bastion-P mobile coastal defence system, designed to take out surface ships up to and including aircraft carrier battle groups.

The Russian deployment comes as Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said she expects her government 'will end the discussion before midsummer' on whether to apply for NATO membership.

Recent opinions polls by a Finnish market research company put 84% of Finns as viewing Russia as a 'significant military threat', up by 25% on last year.

In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov euphemistically warned the move would 'not improve' the security situation in Europe, and Moscow lawmaker Vladimir Dzhabarov added more bluntly it would mean 'the destruction of the country'.

'We have repeatedly said that the alliance remains a tool geared towards confrontation and its further expansion will not bring stability to the European continent,' Peskov said.

Intimidation will not work so well Vlad. Finland will likely put a massive hurt on your forces if you get froggy.

“...the US/NATO initiated the violence against the countries on that list.”

Then YOU aren’t very smart! Or you’re happy to be a Putin Butt Boy. Hmmm...did we initiate the violence against Afghanistan. Well, what things were going on before? Same with Iraq, Serbia and Libya. Your memory is either very convenient or you are squinting really hard to try to justify Putin’s messianic complex.

Not sure exactly what kind they were or if they had SCUD’s in 1979, but they would be similar and they had enough range to hit the continental US. There was an estimated 2-3,000 russian troops there too. I can remember that Carter wasn’t happy that we had been lied to all along - and the confirmation was reported in the media.

My buddy got a meritorious mast for that mission.

“Bottom line, NATO and the USSR had plenty of lethal skirmishes that never brought about the end of the world.”

Only a chickenhawk neocon with zero military experience would equate recon flights with “lethal skirmishes” or flagged military encounters. And you HAVE exposed yourself as a chickenhawk with no military experience.

Otherwise, you’d know better.

Effin’ laughable.

Again, there are NO examples of armed encounters between US and Soviet/Russian forces. Russian and US forces do not fire on each other. To do so requires POTUS approval.

“Well, what things were going on before?”

In NO CASE were there violet acts initiated by those states against US assets.

You just another dumb ass neocon lying to make something out of nothing.

The US/NATO initiated state-to-state military action in each of those cases. And that is indisputable.

Sorry you made it to 2022 without learning how to use the internet.

Here’s another article for you to mock and ignore:

There you go doubling down on your stupid and ignorance.

Recon intercept is NOT armed encounter between forces.

But, AGAIN, because you know jack about military and have never served, you don’t know this.

I served with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squardron Three. Two different warships. White House Communications Agency and Defense Communications Agency.

And I’m here to tell you, and everyone reading here...You’re a pussy-ass neocon chickenhawk spouting off about things you know nothing about.

“Recon intercept is NOT armed encounter between forces.”

You’re not even clicking on the links, are you?

Excerpts from the last link I wasted my time giving to you:

On 11 April, Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Y. Vishinsky presented American Ambassador Alan G. Kirk a formal protest note stating a “B-29” type plane had penetrated twenty-one kilometers into Soviet territory. “Owing to this, an advanced Soviet fighter was forced to fire in reply, after which the American plane turned toward the sea and disappeared.”

On 4 September 1950, a four-plane combat air patrol from the aircraft carrier Valley Forge intercepted a Soviet twin-engine patrol bomber. The flight leader claimed that the Soviet aircraft fired on him. In self-defense, the American fighters shot down the Soviet aircraft.

On 7 October 1952, an Air Force RB-29 aircraft was conducting a photo-mapping mission off the coast of northern Japan and southern Kuriles. A Japanese fisherman later told an Air Force investigator that a Russian fighter had dived from above and fired at the American plane, causing its tail section to break off. Search efforts failed to recover any of the eight crewmembers.

Not very bright, are you....while TECHNICALLY correct - Iraq as a state did not attack the USA - they were supporting terrorism and working on WMD. Read up on the rest. If we sent terrorists into Mexico to attack Mexicans, Mexico would have a right to try to get help against us.

Paper tiger with a third world military and equipment but with nuclear weapons.

If Iran gets nukes, they will behave just like Russia.

Meanwhile China just sits back and waits.

“while TECHNICALLY correct”

That would be ABSOLUTELY correct.

Especially within the context of the disputed assertions.

No, it isn’t absolutely correct. Context is important, and Iraq and Libya and Afghanistan were involved in attacks on America and Americans. Doing so via terrorists didn’t absolve them of guilt. The Serbs started the attacks. When the UN failed to bring peace, NATO did.

You can push your “America Bad. Russia Good” bullshit if you want, but America HAS been a force for good. That includes in Serbia, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan. That Biden threw away Afghanistan doesn’t mean what we did before wasn’t both justified and good.

You may think we suck, but I don’t. And the evidence supports me.

“You can push your “America Bad. Russia Good” bullshit if you want”

If that’s not what I think, why do you?

I don’t think that at all.

I’m just observing facts sans emotions.

“Iraq and Libya and Afghanistan were involved in attacks on America and Americans”

Only Libya was involved in verified state sponsored terrorism against US citizens. And even then not on US assets, or on US soil.

“That Biden threw away Afghanistan doesn’t mean what we did before wasn’t both justified and good.”

Nobody who went there believes that. Ask them if you know any.
