“Bottom line, NATO and the USSR had plenty of lethal skirmishes that never brought about the end of the world.”
Only a chickenhawk neocon with zero military experience would equate recon flights with “lethal skirmishes” or flagged military encounters. And you HAVE exposed yourself as a chickenhawk with no military experience.
Otherwise, you’d know better.
Effin’ laughable.
Again, there are NO examples of armed encounters between US and Soviet/Russian forces. Russian and US forces do not fire on each other. To do so requires POTUS approval.
Sorry you made it to 2022 without learning how to use the internet.
Here’s another article for you to mock and ignore:

I have read a fascinating book on the hot little war US and western troops engaged in near the end of WW1 in northern Russia against the Bolshevics and in support of the White Russians. Lives were lost on both sides. I don’t know if Russia was at that time Soviet Russia or USSR, but the Bolshevics were clearly in charge of most of Russia, and the White Russians lost. If Russian memories are long, and I think they are, then I think they would consider this a case of the US in an armed encounter against their Russian forces.
