Mark Forton, ousted Monday night as the Macomb County Republican Party chairman, vows vowed to go after opponents aggressively. "I don't have to protect any RINO Republicans," he tells The Detroit News.
GOP delegates voted 158-123 to unseat Forton because of a "lack of confidence."
He tells The News he plans to launch a recall campaign against Republican Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini if he doesn't allow Mellissa Carone on the ballot as a state House candidate. Carone gained notoriety in 2020 when she testified with Rudy Giuliani at a Lansing hearing on the election.
Forlini recently disqualified Carone from the ballot because she signed an affidavit falsely claiming she had no outstanding campaign finance issues.

I don’t know any details, but I do know from a friend who’s very politically active that the Macomb County Republican Party is an absolute joke. They are in shambles so the takeover was probably in order.
Also, my cousins wife, who is running for state rep was one of those who forced the board out.
I hope Mark Forton and Mellissa Carone win this battle. Carone was a warrior during the post election hearings. She would be great in the Michigan House of Representatives.

I think we are missing the point. The establishment wanted him gone, so they worked behind the scenes to take him out. This is Michigan politics, not just Macomb county. They are doing this in Oakland county as well. The establishment Republicans do not not want true conservatives in the party. They want your vote, but after that, GTFO. The leadership wants their members to tow the line. They are beholden to the lobbyists of the likes of DTE, Blue Cross, Consumers, Michigan Chamber of Commerce etc.
