Pacific Gas and Electric Co. announced Monday it has reached two settlements with six Northern California counties to resolve the cases surrounding the 2019 Kincade Fire and the 2021 Dixie Fire.
The utility will pay $55 million over five years as part of both settlements.
No criminal charges will be filed in the Dixie Fire, and the criminal complaint for the Kincade Fire will be dismissed, the utility said.
PG&E does not admit wrongdoing in the two settlements reached. The deals expedite damages payments to the hundreds of people whose homes were destroyed.

55 million?
After lawyers fees the people will probably get about 2 cents on the dollar...........
Where is Newsom’s payment for his culpability?
While PG&E customers’ power bills will go up.
No fan of PG&E. But if all these fires are caused by “climate change” then how can they be liable?
Some places it is unethical to use the threat of a crimnal prosecution to extort a settlement in a civil action.
They will anyways....................
Glad to hear no one died or was seriously injured due to the fires.
The utility will pay $55 million
they misspelled customers
And the Fed gummit as well as the Sierra Club for improper forest management.
Ya put off maintenance and this is what you get.
Ya put off maintenance and this is what you get.
Who gets the money? Why is the state blocking the trimming of the brush around the power lines?
Ya get tied up in court for a decade or more by environmentalists suing to prevent you from doing rural powerline ROW maintenance “because the trees” and this is what ya get.
Any way you frame it, PG&E pays $0; consumers eat a $%^T sandwich.
