Ron DeSantis just sent a BIG 2024 message
CNN ^ | Updated 6:30 PM EDT, Fri April 08, 2022 | Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

(CNN)Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has raised more than $100 million for his 2022 reelection bid, a stunning sum that speaks as much to his national ambitions as it does to his prospects in the Sunshine State.

DeSantis is widely regarded as the biggest star not named "Donald Trump" within the Republican Party. He regularly runs second to Trump in 2024 straw polls and often wins them outright when Trump is not included.

And unlike many other Republicans mentioned as possible 2024 candidates, DeSantis has not said he would get out of the race to make way for Trump.

Which, of course, Trump has taken notice of.

But make no mistake: DeSantis and his allies very much meant to send a message with his fundraising totals. (According to CNN, he appears to be the first governor to break the $100 million mark in fundraising solely through donations.)

the “adminstrative state” in Washington (aka the Swamp) doesn’t change with a new Prez

And you cabinet is not who you bring, but who the RINOs will let you confirm. Funny how towards the end Trump just started to rely on acting secretaries in key places.

DeSantis is great, he made a few errors, but would put him in the top echelon of Republic Governors. He has zero percent chance of beating Trump in the primary, though.

VP’s don’t do much of anything. I think Florida needs him more than we do as VP.

Plus, he’s battle hardened, with democrats battling him on everything and trying hard to get rid of him illegally.

Exactly Trump is extremely popular even though he had to battle through everything they had on him and a lot of stuff they just plain fabricated - and got away with because the RINOs wanted him gone too. If they could just have DeSantis, maybe they could beat him, and if not, at least keep a lot more RINOs than they can under Trump.

No. CNN loves attempting to foment conflict between Trump and DeSantis. Don’t fall for it.

Posts like yours, and the responses, are the reason I think Trump would be hard pressed to win the nomination in 2024. FreeRepublic represents the hardcore of the hardcore Trump support. And you can see it starting to slowly diminish even here.

“I’m leaning Trump because of what he weathered in his first term.”

Having Big Time FU money is a real asset is these political times.

This is just CNN trying to drive a wedge between DeSantis and Trump.

“Other GOP elected officials should take notice, act like a conservative and get support”

Yeah, but their hearts wouldn’t really be in it.

The “team of people working for him in Florida” is also known as “his establishment GOP handlers.”

That’s NOT something that works in DeSantis’ favor.

I love DeSantis. He will make an excellent president.

One more term as governor and he’ll be ready.

"And he’s got one big advantage over Trump, he’s got a team of people working for him in Florida that we can bring to Washington."

"Can Trump do that? Based on his first term, I think that’s simply something he cannot do."

And if DeSantis is Trump's VP, we can have both..(I'm sure DeSantis can bring along this vaunted "team" as VEEP)..Trump/DeSantis in 2024, Desantis/??? in 2028 and 2032.

I dunno 'bout you, but I kinda like the sound of that....
