Jesse Watters tried to pull one over on Mel Gibson in an interview aired Friday on Fox News, asking the veteran actor, director and producer about the Will Smith-Chris Rock Oscars incident.
But it quickly became apparent Gibson had no interest in discussing the matter — and Fox News and Watters had been told as much beforehand.
"You understand it probably better than a lot of people, with your career," Watters led in with, transitioning from the topic of Gibson's latest movie, "Father Stu," which they had discussed for nearly five minutes (see the full interview below). "And I was wondering if, you know, you had been the one that jumped up out of his seat and slapped Chris Rock, if you would have been treated the same way, Mel?"
A grinning Gibson then points his finger into the camera, spreads his hand and shakes his palm, as if to say, "No, don't do that," before an off-camera voice cuts things off.

Mel seemed agitated tbe whole time. Is he always like that?
Watter’s show is unwatchable - looks and sounds more like a reality show - scripted and rehearsed.
“and Fox News and Watters had been told as much beforehand.”
I agree
This was a typical Hollywood junket interview. The actors take a two minute interview, on after another, for a couple of hours.
You could tell Mel was phoning it in.
In these cases there are specific parameters—both in terms of time and content. Jessie obviously went off the script and he was shut down.
Jessie is disingenuous about the whole interview. Because he was shut down, its “news.” Had be been allowed to ask the questions (and had Mel answer) it would have been news. Neither situation aided Gibson in promoting his movie.
This is a story about nothing. The movie looks “okay.’
Was G.I. Jane a good movie or a segue into the woke uniformed services we have been happily enjoying?
Certainly the greatest film ever made in Quechua.😏
Didn’t the Army lower standards just last week to make it easier for women? Blows the premise of GI Jane up.
“good movie portraying Jesus Christ, and the left has had a target painted on his back ever since.”
Exactly.
It’s like watching a teenager trying to impress his friends. I was so disappointed when they chose him to fill that 7pm spot
Especially if it had been established before hand that they wouldn't go there. That's not why Mel was doing the interview.
I agree. Jesse should have complied with their pre-interview understandings. Don’t do it again, Jesse.
Acting more like Jussie.
Still can’t get over seeing Will Smith laughing his butt off at the joke, until all of a sudden he gets all irate, and slaps Chris Rock.
Agree it will be his last interview Mel lesson learned ?.
The latter.
“...Jesse’s point of what would have happened if a white actor had done the slapping should be answered.”
Yes, indeed.
I am reminded of when Eric Holder said something to the effect that the US needs to have an honest conversation about race. Granted, I doubt he was referring to an “honest” conversation, but I agree with the sentiment.
Exactly! It's like he and his producer can't decide if they want Jesse to be a grown up, or a "Bill O'Reilly" clone, or back to the preppy kid on the street with comedic film clip interstitials. Then, at the end, he wraps it up with the contrived "Waterworld" play on words - which is totally out of left field for the PRIME TIME brand. Yeah, I was hoping that hour would have gone to Lawrence Jones.
He should end the program with one of those clips. It should be his trademark.
The movie, since rock referred to G.I. Jane “2”
“Also....if a white comedian had made the G.I. Jane joke......then what?”
Depending on which white comedian (i.e.: Joe Rogan), Will Smith would have received an azz whooping.
But instead he attacked a skinny and weak comedian. Chris Rock can’t weigh more an 160 lbs while Smith is 6’2” and must weigh over 200 lbs.
A genuine tough guy.
Dude’s a cuck
