A Pennsylvania man fatally shot a father of four as he tried to unload his gun while stopped at a red light, police said.
Lloyd Amarsingh, 28, has been charged with third-degree murder in the Friday morning shooting that he claims was accidental, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Amarsingh, of Darby, told detectives he pulled out his gun and tried to unload it while stopped at an intersection in Upper Darby, but the weapon went off accidentally as he tried to remove a live round from the chamber, according to an affidavit of probable cause for his arrest.
The weapon fired from Amarsingh’s white Audi A4 and struck Jim Hunt, 56, of Havertown, who was also at the intersection in a white Mercedes Sprinter, WPVI reported.
Amarsingh then sped through the red light, according to the affidavit, and responding cops later found Hunt slumped behind the wheel of his van while the vehicle was still running.
Hunt, who was shot once in the head, was later pronounced dead at a hospital, WPVI reported.
Amarsingh surrendered to cops hours after the shooting. In addition to third-degree murder, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter and possessing an instrument of crime.
Investigators initially considered the shooting an apparent road-rage incident, the Inquirer reported Friday.

The other driver:
Ping.
Yeah, the walls around here are full of bullet holes because that always happens when I’m trying to take the magazine out of the gun.
My bull-shit-o-meter is really pegging on this one. Accident? Uh, huh...
The gun went off accidentally.
The Baldwin defense didn’t work for this guy.
A friend’s brother, relocating for a new job in Chicago, stopped at the first stoplight on hitting the city. A car with several black men drove up beside him and they all pointed guns at him. (Single white man with out of state plates.) He turned around and left Chicago forever.
I have heard of other incidents where black men point their guns at white men while at intersections. I’m guessing that’s what happened.
So a blue collar contributor to society is taken out by a feral thug, great just great. He’ll probably get home detention while a family is destroyed.
Mercedes Sprinter
Yep I thought that could be the defense, that it was just an accident, such as Baldwin’s . Baldwin apparently will never face any criminal legal charges.
It is amazing how many “accident’s” result to head or heart shots.
The follow up story will be a case of road rage, with the shooter having a damaged prefrontal cortex causing bursts of rage.
It wasn’t the magazine:
“...but the weapon went off accidentally as he tried to remove a live round from the chamber, according to an affidavit of probable cause for his arrest.”
But still should never have happened.
Every vote for Creepy Joe was a vote for this carnage to continue. And those who did NOT cast an affirmative vote for Trump, you are just as guilty.
You believe this?
Yeah, I was just stopped at a light and had a sudden urge to pull out my gun and inspect it. And you know how long those stop lights can be, so I was really bored. And I thought, as long as I am sitting here, I may as well clean my gun, so I of course had to unload it first. So, while I was unloading the weapon, officer, a big ol’ bee buzzed right by my face, and I tried to swat it away, and when I moved my hand my finger slipped into the trigger guard and accidentally pulled the trigger. , and the gun went off. Unfortunately it was aimed at the head of the guy in the Mercedes next to me when it happened. But I didn’t notice that, because I wet my pants when the gun went off, and was scrambling to get my butt out of the rapidly filling bucket seat. At that point, I must have accidentally stepped on the gas, which caused my car to lurch forward through the still red light, and bolt across the intersection. Since I was already across, I figured I may as well go on home, and so I didn’t notice the Mercedes that was next to me did not go when the light finally turned green, but that is OK since I don’t know CPR or anything anyway. Hours later, when I heard about the accident, and after I called a lawyer who told me it would be better if I turned myself in, I went to the cops to give my side of the story...
> Accident? Uh, huh... <
Q. Why would anyone decide to unload a gun while waiting at a red light?
A. They wouldn’t.
If KJ Whatever her name is makes it to the Supreme Court, we'll be seeing a LOT more of this.
