Russia has agreed to “fundamentally cut back” military activity around Kyiv and Chernihiv in order to “increase mutual trust” in a step towards a peace deal with Ukraine.
Russia’s deputy defence minister Alexander Fomin says Russia will "radically reduce" military activity outside the two cities, reports have claimed.
Mr Fomin said Moscow has decided to “fundamentally cut back military activity in the direction of Kyiv and Chernihiv” in order to “increase mutual trust for future negotiations to agree and sign a peace deal with Ukraine”, according to Russian news agency Tass.

HOORAY WE HAVE WON, ALL GLORY TO ________, AND LONG LIVE PRESIDENT _____ .
Very good.
Have a look at a map of the Caspian Sea.
Azeri oil is that basin. Iran made some major discoveries on the south shore and Kazakhstan famously has Cashagan field underwater near its shoreline. That oil all travels north to the Russian shoreline, and the Volga river.
Barges and the CPC pipeline carry oil north for distribution. It’s a source of considerable US rage because Iran ships its oil north on those barges to the Volga. Blends with other oil and they get paid, around sanctions.
If you then travel north on the Volga (maybe different map) you reach the bottleneck at Volgograd (which was called Stalingrad until the Soviets deStalinized).
About 3 million barrels/day travel that route. Now move your map westward and you will discover the east border of the Donbas is less than 100 miles from Volgograd.
There was never any way NATO could be allowed that close.
So, you are dead on correct that it is an energy focus (and Russia is, indeed, going to win), but Ukraine really doesn’t have any. All those fields have been known about for decades. When they were in the Russian orbit, GAZPROM didn’t try to develop. Those fields are hype. There is a crapload of hype in the world of oil and gas. Wildcatters want their “discovery” bought for absurd price (when there’s nothing there).
Because there’s nearly nothing there.
But we still say Chicken Kiev, as well as “Peking”, not “Beijing” Duck ;-)
They are playing Good Comrade/Bad Comrad...
So ‘illary can peregruzka (overcharge)
lol. They’ll have to go to Myanmar to launder their US aid money.

I think this means they’re talking with the Ukrainians through Turkey.
They can’t sit down at a table because there’s too many things causing invective. So the Turks are gonna focus on one or two areas, ask for the Rukes to pull back, ask for the Ukes to make a small concession.
It’s a start.
Yeah. I could give a fuck about what China wants me to call stuff. But I will side with Ukraine over Russia.
“Ukrainian Troops Fire Tochka-U Missile on Lugansk “
Dont see Russia backing off after that.
Russia must have run out of defenseless citizens waiting in bread lines.
Russia and China = Evil of our time
I'd add American Leftists/progressives
NEVER TRUST THE RUSSIANS.
The Russians will likely make another attempt at seizing Kiev.
A little bit odd, here.
This seems to mean that everyone’s ok with Russia keeping Donbas and Crimea.
They say they’re russian speaking areas, so we’re looking at Germany’s justification for Sudetenland, aren’t we? And Zelensky is fine with it, and all the old dogs are fine with it, and the UN is fine with it. Really strange.
I worry that someone’s trying to stage WW3. I don’t want to fight over regions that have been part of russia for 300 years.
It must be nice living in your own little fantasy world.
Go away Neocon, and take Biden’s war with you.
Ok, lets see your evidence for these statements. As in links to specific facts supporting these fantastic claims.
Shoo, Neocon, and take Biden’s war with you!!
You may need to update your headline.
Russia continued to bombard Kyiv’s suburbs despite assurances that Putin’s forces would scale down their assault to build ‘mutual trust’

It says ‘cut back’ not ‘stop.’ So headline is still apropos. Also most information seems to suggest that Russia is shifting their focus to the East. We’ll see.
I do not find it.
