Russia is no longer requesting Ukraine be “denazified” and is prepared to let Kyiv join the EU if it remains military non-aligned as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations, according to four people briefed on the discussions.
Moscow and Kyiv are discussing a pause in hostilities as part of a possible deal that would involve Ukraine abandoning its drive for Nato membership in exchange for security guarantees and the prospect to join the EU, the people said under the condition of anonymity because the matter is not yet finalised.
The draft ceasefire document does not contain any discussion of three of Russia’s initial core demands — “denazification”, “demilitarisation”, and legal protection for the Russian language in Ukraine — the people added.
Envoys from both sides are to meet in Istanbul on Tuesday in a fourth round of peace talks designed to end president Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The concessions on Russia’s side come as its month-long ground offensive has largely stalled as a result of fiercer Ukrainian resistance than expected and Russian operational deficiencies.
But Ukraine and its western backers remain sceptical of Putin’s intentions, worrying that the Russian president could be using the talks as a smokescreen to replenish his exhausted forces and plan a fresh offensive.

In this article, Z has agreed to keep water flowing to Crimea, regardless of any future negotiations. Vast majority of Ukrainian never had a problem with water flow to Crimea. Only political pressure from the Crimean Tatars caused the water cutoff.
No land bridge for Russia. The people in that area do not want to be Russian. It will be hostile territory for Russia forever.
Yeah maybe that ….and the dam that Kiev built after 2014 to stop the water
One of the first things the Russians destroyed in Feb
How reliable is this source, though?
The dam was built to placate the Crimean Tatars, politically. Placating a minority.
“according to four people briefed on the discussions”
Because 4 anonymous sources is better than 1. Because we all know that 4x0 is greater than 1x0
What has sprouted up again has been obliterated.
Good to know. Note to self: strike Ukraine off of list for future vacation visits...
Financial Times is the WSJ of England so definitely not weekly world stuff.
If Putin and Zelensky reach an agreement, will Biden accept it?
As Putin's personal valet, Biden will accept any agreement that doesn't subject him to impeachment, removal and imprisonment. That presumably includes any agreement between Putin and Zelensky.
Biden has remunerated his Russian paymaster, Putin, many times over by denying Poland's clapped-out MiG-29's to Ukraine. While Biden makes grand-sounding pronouncements about the defense of freedom and democracy for the media, he slow-walks US aid to Ukraine.
Biden's shtick, which combines reassuring talk and passive aggressive sabotage, is a winner among the uninformed public. Biden is in Putin’s pocket*, although in a plausibly deniable way. His problem is that both parties are pretty solidly in Ukraine’s camp. And there is plenty of material available to impeach, remove *and* imprison Biden. I doubt Biden will act precipitously to aid his Russian patron. He will throw obstacles in the path of the aid where feasible and perhaps, in so doing, doom Ukraine to defeat.
Joe Biden has the affect of a very good used car salesperson, which he presumably acquired at the feet of his car salesman dad. He makes you feel comfortable, like a member of his fambly, to the point that it almost feels like you’re imposing on him by asking for a discount off the list price. Heck - you want to pay above list, just to show him how much you appreciate the service he provides. Then you drive away from the showroom with the cream puff you just acquired, and the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree, then goes completely dark, as the car rolls to a gradual stop.
* One of the unheralded aspects of the Ukrainian scene is the way large numbers of Ukrainian oligarchs are owned by Putin. For instance, Burisma, a corporation that looms large in the Biden scandals, is owned by a Ukrainian businessman with indirect ties to Moscow.
It's possible Biden is slow-walking aid to Ukraine because he’s afraid that Putin will blow up his administration. Not with explosives, but by carefully laying out how he used cut-outs to bribe Hunter Biden, and by extension, Joe, in a way that no amount of denial by the media can scrub away.
Some people say Ukraine has its hooks into Biden. That’s absurd on its face. Saying that Biden is tied to Ukraine is like saying the Anwar Awlaki, US citizen anchor baby and the Yemeni terrorist, is tied to the US. The relationship is completely incidental. Biden’s real relationship is to Russia - Burisma’s owner is a pro-Moscow oligarch tied indirectly to Putin.
Yanukovich ran to Moscow because he was Putin’s man. Who was Yanukovich’s man, who left Ukraine when Yanukovich scuttled away to his master in Russia? Zlochevsky, who *co-incidentally* owned Burisma, the outfit that bribed Biden through Hunter.
Zlochevsky served as Ecology and Natural Resources Minister during most of the first cabinet of Mykola Azarov,[1] and during both the later part of Azarov’s first government and all of Azarov’s second government, he served as deputy secretary on National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.[1]
The bottom line? Countries don’t pay bribes. People do. If I had to guess who really bribed Biden, I’d say Putin, through a couple of intermediaries - Zlochevsky who was beholden to Yanukovich who was beholden to Putin. It’s really not that complicated, and makes for plausible deniability.
Why hasn’t the media made the connection? For the same reason it’s completely uninterested in Hunter Biden’s laptop.
“Without a doubt but it doesn’t compare to the global media fire hose in favor of Sir Robinette of Delaware.”
If you had said “American media” instead of “global media,” I’d have to agree with you.
There is no “American Media”, it’s all global now.
I don’t think it was ever about zelensky
Yeah. Sure. The tatar minority were such a power in 2015.
And the announced Kherson dam to basically block the Dnieper was just the cherry on the sundae.

The map on the right side, tells you all Russia wanted...
Putin already announced the war will end on May 9th.
That’s why this war needs to end and we can all get back to the business of getting rid of Democrats in the midterms and getting rid of Biden in 2024.
If any uke leaked details of any concessions, they’d prob be assassinated by their own “no capitulation” powers behind the throne Z sits on
Ukraine never even started repairing the destruction caused by 8 years of their own military shelling the break away areas.
