Germany has since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine made significant progress toward reducing its exposure to imports of Russian gas, oil and coal, Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Friday.

He said that imports of Russian oil now accounted for 25% of German imports, down from 35%, and gas imports were cut to 40% from 55%. Russian coal imports were down to 25% from 50% before the invasion.

“The first important milestones to free us from the grip of Russian imports have been achieved,” he said, adding that by the summer the share of Russian gas imports would fall to 24% and that by the summer of 2024 Germany could be almost independent of Russian gas.

“Germany will be independent of Russian gas by summer 2024.”

Good for them.

Xiden will sure take care of Germany — just like he’s taken care of the US.

Maybe they’ll find that old “gas” formula they used to make gas back in the day when they needed to fill up their tanks...

With oil over $100, Putin is still raking in the dough.

The article doesn’t state how they reduced the Russian imports. How are they being replaced?? Is John Kerry providing wind and solar energy? Are they firing up their abandoned power plants with coal and oil from some other source?? Are they letting their people freeze, parking their cars,?? Give us some detail??

I read german engineers have designed a wind mill that can be affixed on top of a car that can power a car just from the wind created while driving on the autobahn

If they don’t permanently refuse the construction of Nord Stream 2, it’s all just a shell game.

If they do permanently refuse the construction of nord stream 2, they have to figure out how to power much of western Europe quickly and they’re trying to phase out nuclear plants while the US decided to shift its own priorities and isn’t in position to help them out.

It’s almost as if they either don’t know how to, or don’t want to get out of this mess, and if they actually don’t want to decouple from Russia, then this is really just an elaborate shell game to fool the rubes into letting the war profiteers make some more money.

It's March 26th, not January 26th.

“this is really just an elaborate shell game to fool the rubes into letting the war profiteers make some more money.”

That is exactly what is happening—and some of the brainwashed folks around here are falling for it.

A press release is a whole lot different than the real world.

“The laws of thermodynamics say that’s not a reality.”

Those so called laws were declared racist and reduced to merely suggestions quite some time ago

“Germany doubling their military spending.”

Well, hopefully they don’t invade Poland.

Germany needs to quadruple their military spending over the next five years just to catch up.
