Could AOC be the 2024 nominee? Karl Rove discusses 'way too wild' possibility
Fox News ^ | March 25, 2022 | Charles Creitz

Fox News host Jesse Watters asked former Bush deputy chief of staff Karl Rove about the possibility that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., could make a run for the presidency in 2024.

On "Jesse Watters Primetime," Watters noted that Ocasio-Cortez portrays herself as a paragon of knowledge, most recently pertaining to the public's understanding of capitalism and socialism. He asked Rove his thoughts on whether the left-wing "Squad" member has a chance.

"This is way too wild … Wouldn't it be great if you were right? Because it would be such a fun campaign, and the Republicans would win overwhelmingly — even if they ran you or me, they'd win," Rove said. "She is not very bright at all."

Dems are always looking for the most controversial and unqualified candidate so AOC is probably on the short list already.
All they have to do is to rig a few preliminary elections and she's in.

Would Hispanic men vote for her? She would be an “exciting” candidate, but so would a rabid donkey.

Sandy Cortez has no chance. She’s an immature, uneducated bartender.

I don’t think anyone has ever accused Brandon of being ‘very bright’ and look at where we are now.

So, why is an AOC candidacy such a wild idea?

It is completely within the bounds of possibility.

She is basically a hired actress playing the role of a Congressman. She does fairly well in public appearances and reliably follows the directions of her backers.

What's not to like?

Her backers.

Karl Rove, he’s that guy on Fox News that is always right about everything. Yeah, I believe AOC could be the 2024 nominee. Anything Karl says. He’s a frickin’ political genus.

"She is not very bright at all."

I've said it before on this forum: you underestimate AOC at your own peril. She is a true believer in her own press and she knows how to get attention. If the dems could run an elderly dementia patient through a presidential primary, they could most certainly get someone like AOC through it. If you think she'd sink herself with gaffes, abrasive personality, no record to speak of, and a questionable grasp of the issues, remember that Biden challenged a voter to a push up contest and his son basically leaked selfie pictures of himself smoking crack to the media and he still got dragged over the line.

Rove had one trick up his sleeve, figure out how to carve out enough niche issues to sucker the votes needed to get to 271 in the electoral college and the rest didn't matter. It's really a terrible way of approaching national politics and an admission that you don't care about reaching or serving the entire country. It causes things like being beholden to lobbying groups and taking unprincipled but politically convenient stands for an electoral cycle, and it ultimately always fails. The sooner he's on a cruise ship with Bill Kristol and the hollowed out husk of the National Review advising democrats how to lose their elections the better.
