Actually, it’s only “no duh” news to you and me. Anti-gunners are baffled.
A new survey by the nationally-recognized polling firm of McLaughlin & Associates shows strong public support for the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms in the wake of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This shouldn’t be news to anyone familiar with the history of the Second Amendment. It shouldn’t even be news to anti-gunners … after all, gun-banners love to tout the “well-regulated militia” verbiage in the 2A. What better time for a “well-regulated militia” than an invasion by a foreign power?
The fact is that “militia” simply refers to any able-bodied person (it used to mean men only) capable of taking up arms. And “well-regulated” simply means “well-supplied with guns and powder.” American gun culture means that about 2/3 of our citizens are ready and able to fight, even if only with a handgun or short-range weapon like a shotgun. (Right now, Ukraine wishes it had a well-regulated militia like the one that American gun culture produces.)
What’s especially nasty–and dishonest–about anti-gunners is that they like to pretend that American gun culture, Americans, and our guns couldn’t possibly stand against a full-fledged professional military. Let’s take a moment to reflect on anti-gun needledick Eric Swalwell‘s thoughts on the matter:

Like those old wall clocks that say “regulated” or. “Regulator”.
Before a universal time structure we had to know which clocks were “in good working order”. The post office would have “regulator” clocks that would be official and the surrounding clocks would be “regulated”.
“Regulated” in terms of the English spoken during our country’s foundation means “kept in good working order”
That means ad you said. The governments job is to keep us trained and equipped. It is derelict in its duties.
The constitution does not tell us what we can or cannot do. It tells the government what it can do.

The guns in Ukraine are useful, but to prevent foreign invasion it would be better if every citizen has an ATGM in their closet.
There are always unintended consequences.
Can’t wait to hear from the lying rat media why what is good for Ukrainians isn’t also good for Americans.

Tank drivers need to pee. Pilots need somewhere to park their planes. Troops need those supply trucks delivering ammo.....etc.
And no external supply source/base of operations.
And the "insurgents" may know where you or your families live.
And when Swalwell and Biden suggest using military assets on people who are supposedly their constituents in a domestic operation, that tells you why the 2nd amendment is important.

So, you’d be in favor of requiring every gun owner to:
1. Be required to perform some basic drills and practice on a regular schedule? (Marching, target shooting, etc.)
2. For some ammunition to be supplied by the government. (At least for the drills and practice)
3. Perhaps, (as I believe is don in Switzerland) that every able-bodied person is issued a rifle of the approved caliber. (So everyone gets a basic .223/.556 semi-automatic with a 15 round magazine)
Is that what you mean by trained and equipped?

I’ll give up some things in life, but my guns are last on that list.
While I wholeheartedly agree that he should be dangled from a lamppost, he is the symptom rather than the disease. The real dipsh!ts are the people who voted for him and the people who contributed to his campaign

Have you heard the argument that “regulated” also meant “timed?” This was an era in which volley fire was used, and firing and reloading might need to be timed so that sparks from flintlocks weren’t randomly flying about when powderhorns were charging barrels.
