After 8 years in the Bay Area, web designer Mike Rothermel, who’s in his mid-40s, his wife and 9 year-old daughter realized their time in the tech capital had expired. Fed up with the Bay Area’s high prices and harder lifestyle, Rothermel craved the ease of life and lower costs in Boulder, where he’d grown up. “Everything costs less and people are less competitive. You don’t have to make more than your neighbor or drive a better car. We don’t feel that pressure here,” says Rothermel of Boulder.

My daughter and SIL just sold their 10 acres and home in NW Florida and in less than an hour It was listed and sold. A family from Washington State bought it sight unseen, just from pics on the internet................
I have a friend in Charlotte NC who told me houses are sold sight unseen within hours. He had been trying to buy a new house and they disappear immediately.
Boulder is the perfect place for California transplants; from one lunatic asylum to another. They need to stay the heck out of the rest of Colorado (I know, that horse already left the barn).
My wife and I bought our current residence in NE Tennessee without having seen it except for listing picks. Good price and sold our house for twice as much. Plus, we got to leave Massachusetts behind. A no-brainer really.
Nowadays with HQ photos and drone videos you can do a walk thru without walking.
It figures they would see Boulder as a place of refuge.
At least your relative and the subject of the article landed among an already-existing nest of liberals so their overall impact is not as great as if they’d gone someplace not to their liberal liking and tried to turn it into the hellhole they just left. Best for all concerned - CO is already blue from this type of migration. It wasn’t that long ago a homosexual desiring a political career would have been held up for ridicule and now - he gets to be governor of CO.
Surely the “harder lifestyle” cited by the subject of the article was a larger challenge than just “keeping up with the neighbors” on cars. I expect he got tired of looking past the ever-looming human filth on the sidewalks of SFO.
Migration always destroys. People flooding in to where you live will ultimately conquer and destroy what made that area nice to begin with.
It would be funny except folks like this are moving to all of our communities.
‘Cept when he votes and contributes to politicians whose values align with CCP and Schwab. We know some liberals and some are family members but we agree to not talk politics, even Ukraine.
“..lower costs in Boulder,..”
Now that’s some comedy there folks. Hilarious.”
Boulder is much cheaper for housing than San Fran. My cousin went from 1400SF to 4,400Sf straight across.
They could have easily moved to Austin and they would enjoy the same liberal B.S. they left San Fran for.
The problem is that the people buying their homes in the Bay Area and Seattle are foreigners.
Chinese and Indian mainly, here on H visas of some flavor.
Larry FinkRock may be buying up acres of homes in Tejas but not individual homes in extremely high priced Western states.
What we see is Smith and Jones moving to Intermountain West or Southwest cities, but the guy who gave them the money to do that is not fromthese here parts.
Poor Colorado is the perfect example of how a decent State gets ruined by the liberal locusts.
You chose very well.
—yep—and it really got started about when Dick Lamm became governor—
We bought a house that was a second home and then full-time home, total of 20 years, wife never saw the inside until we closed. Seeing the setting/location was all it took.
I bet a good many are Flippers.................
