Bobbie and Bill Kilberg were expecting a few dozen people for their fundraiser Monday for GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, an intimate cocktail party they were planning at their home in McLean, Virginia.
But in the weeks since the Republican National Committee voted to censure Cheney for her involvement in the ongoing House select committee investigation of the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, the couple was flooded with requests to come and meet the congresswoman and the event's special guest, Utah GOP Sen. Mitt Romney.
So many people RSVP'd yes that Monday's event was moved to another, larger venue. The Kilbergs finally had to cap the list of co-hosts when it hit 75.
The donor interest isn't all for Cheney's reelection bid for her House seat in Wyoming. More than two full years before the 2024 election, Cheney is emerging as the anti-Trump champion, and plenty of Republicans are glad to see it.
"We are moving beyond Donald Trump," Bobbie Kilberg told CNN. "Enough, already. Enough's enough."
Kilberg and other allies insist Cheney remains focused on her reelection to the House this year, which includes a daunting primary challenge from her onetime adviser Harriet Hageman. Trump has endorsed Hageman, who has all but cleared the field of Republican challengers, and defeating Cheney remains one of the former President's top priorities in the midterm cycle.
But several Republicans have said it's not out of the question she could seek the GOP nomination for president if Trump runs again.
"Would it surprise me? Not even in the slightest," said Landon Brown, a state representative in Wyoming and one of the few elected Republicans there publicly backing Cheney in the primary.

Let’s see...Bobby Kilberg, born in NYC. Aren’t Congresspeople supposed to represent their home district? Last I looked McLean, VA isn’t in Wyoming.
“be Mitt’s running mate”
Hmmmm......that’s my question. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that “Pierre Delecto’s” name/face has been popping up in the press a hell of a lot lately? He’s just as worthless now (like my Susan Collins) as he has been since he was the Mass Governor, so WTF is up?
The last instate poll showed her with an abysmal 12% support in her state. No amount of donor cash is going to overcome that.
.
Same thing will happen with Lindsey Graham, their value is undermining from the inside.
.
Ukraine has put Mitt back in the game. That’s why I really hope this war ends soon.
How...(serious question)?
Sure, she can put up $1,000 and get on the New Hampshire primary ballot just like anyone else. Maybe she will get more votes than Larry Horn, Rick Kraft, Star Locke, Matthew Matern, Mary Maxwell, Eric Merrill, William Murphy, Juan Payne, Joe Walsh, Bill Weld, Robert Ardini, President R. Boddie, or one of the 4 other people who ran against Donald Trump in the 2020 Republican primary.
Who knows, maybe Ms. Cheney can get more votes than Vermin Supreme and come in 15th or 16th in the 2024 NH presidential primary.
If they’re going to waste their money, I’d be happy to take $100k
This is precisely why we need the Patriot Party and NOW. The GOPeahens are going to remove all of the O2 from the elites and their “cocktail parties” celebrating Mittens, Lizzy, Bill Barr, Kevin, “Team Mitch” and the rest of the slovenly assistant Demoncrats. It is time that the people, the CITIZENS of the United States got their representation back.
The tough part is getting the nomination, obviously. But do you really think Mitt wouldn’t crush any Democrat amongst Independents and Centrists at this point?
Merriam-Webster treats the phrases couldn't care less and could care less as synonymous, both meaning "not concerned or interested at all." "Couldn't care less" is the older and more obvious phrase grammatically, but it has been confused for so long that both are now defined. Additionally, the example sentence "it's impossible that [I] could care less" is the same as the intended meaning.
Lez Romney 🤪
Imagine how much better our Republic would be if only eligible voters for a candidate could contribute to their campaign.
Liz stood behind Trump.....with a frickin’ knife!
I wonder who has the higher approval rating in Wyoming right now...Lizzie or President Trump?
Cheney: $4.7 million
Hageman: $381,000
And the old hag is still (probably) going to lose in May, no matter how much more geld the New York City tribe of liberals raises for her contest in Wyoming. Lizzie has already spent nearly $3 million to get her 15% in the polls or whatever it is.
Note that like most states, Wyoming has open primaries (as if it would matter even if they didn't) so there will be a TON of Democrats voting for Lizzie in the primary. It should be all over by now, as unpopular as she is, but it's far from over.
If these are the people going to run things. I am staying home. They will never get my vote because I don’t care anymore.
We need to donate to the challengers in primaries.
Yikes! That's a massive number of Cheney supporters.......
