Elon Musk asked by Twitter users to deactivate all Teslas in Russia, following the country's invasion of Ukraine

A small but impassioned group of Twitter users are urging Elon Musk to deactivate all Teslas in Russia.

The calls come in the wake of the country's continuing attack on Ukraine, which began on February 24.

In a series of tweets to the tech mogul, several users asked Musk to "turn off every single Tesla in Russia."

One said: "Please turn off and deactivate all Tesla's in Russia. It's absolutely disgusting what Russia is doing and Putin has to be stopped."

Another requested the deactivation as a sort of "tech embargo" on Russia.

Musk, however, is yet to respond to the requests. Tesla did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside of normal working hours.

Since Russia conducted a "special military operation" on Ukraine, Musk has been helping Ukrainians by providing them with internet access. Refugees can also access free charging for both Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles in neighboring countries.

Last week, the SpaceX founder said he was providing Ukraine with the Starlink satellite service after the military action disrupted internet service across the country.

Musk responded to a request from a Ukrainian government official for Starlink, saying it "is now active in Ukraine" with "more terminals en route."

Just like Western Central Banks grabbing Russia’s USD and EURO “savings” for political reasons - the fact that ANYONE could turn off my car, for political reasons - means I will do everything I can to find another option.

I hope Elon doesn’t do that. This is just more “Cancel Culture” behavior that many people do these days without a second thought. I would bet many Tesla drivers in Russia are trying to escape the destruction and survive. They do not need their cars being switched off right now as part of some social gesture. Such an action is not going to hurt Putin’s goals anyway.

Interesting idea. I do not believe Musk will do it.

Nor should he.

Twitter is a sewer. Who cares what a bunch of 14 year old girls and the demonazis think our foreign policy should be. When they can find Ukraine in a map and explain why Bolshevism is wrong, I’ll start to listen.

Imagine a future when your car is deactivated because your government did something wrong... or because you hold an unpopular opinion.

This will be good for Tesla sales.

Hey the retarded leadership of my country just invaded another country.

“Too bad sucker, you as a peasant should’ve stopped it.”

Why don’t we kick Russia out of the international financial system?

“We already did, this is a follow up measure.”

Those who are asking are assuming all of those Russian Tesla owners approve of the invasion. Aside from that, any government official, especially in military operations, who owns a vehicle that can be turned off by someone else shouldn’t be involved with national security.

This is why I will never buy a GM vehicle. They are all equipped with ONSTAR which can shut your vehicle down.
