$10 toothpaste? U.S. household goods makers face blowback on price hikes

March 1 (Reuters) - Get ready for the $10 tube of toothpaste.

Colgate-Palmolive Co (CL.N) CEO Noel Wallace said last week at an industry conference that the household goods maker sees its new Optic White Pro Series toothpaste as the type of premium product "vital" to its ability to raise prices, which will help drive profit growth this year.

His remarks come when many consumer products companies are hiking prices as much as they can to offset their own rising costs, a trend that could continue due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, whose economic risks include driving up gasoline prices.

The price on paper products has doubled since the great TP shortage of 2020. I’m thinking about getting some of these to reduce paper towel usage; https://allrags.com/collections/white-terry-rags/products/recycled-white-terry-washcloth?variant=36519545488

25lbs or approx 300 white terry rags, 12 inch square. $51.25 or approx $0.17 each. Would be handy for another TP shortage as well.

Moronic Americans who keep voting Democrat are now complaining about the ramifications of their despicable ignorance. And may even get violent about it if the mood strikes them. The modern American problem in a nutshell.

If so many Americans are morons, why does Deep State have to steal elections?

Same thing that's happened with beef. Keep raising that ribeye price so they can still sell the ground beef and round cuts cheap. Two different lines of products. One for the haves and one for the have nots.

There will come a point for some products where people won’t buy.

An example is goat feed. For me, I consider the Purina feeds to be the top shelf goat feeds. But a bag of their goat chow is now $23.99/50#. Sell it at $25/bag and there will be people who switch to Nutrena, Blue Seal, TSC branded feeds, etc. Companies will start to price themselves out of contention.

Same for Calf Manna - good supplement but getting expensive. Blue Seal Sunshine will start to get more looks as prices for these types of products go up.

Probably worth replenishing the long-term stockpile at this point. I was trying to downsize, but what’s the point?

“If so many Americans are morons, why does Deep State have to steal elections?”

Because those elections can be stolen with a low margin of fraud.

Or maybe a big margin of fraud...

In any case, Deep State is the enemy.

Let’s save the pejoratives for them, eh?

Ask yourself this, if all Deep State needs is a small margin, why is Deep State so hell bent on getting those RCV provisions passed nationwide...?

Answer: Because Anericans really are educable.

And Deep State knows this.

“Answer: Because Anericans really are educable.”

Agreed. But it’s not going to happen fast enough.

“why is Deep State so hell bent on getting those RCV provisions passed nationwide...?”

Because as they learned from Virginia, for example, they will require higher margins of fraud to win—and quickly. Meaning they will require insurance against a higher probability of prosecution. Those provisions provide for plausible deniability and more difficulty for investigators and prosecutors in uncovering evidence of the larger amount of fraud.

My dad brushed his teeth with baking soda all his life, the rest of the family used tooth paste, which dad said was “too sweet”.

$0.17 per butt wipe is pretty expensive.
