‘It means the end of Putin’: Former NATO commander Wesley Clark explains Ukraine war
NY Post ^ | 3/2/22 | Wesley Clark

Posted on 03/03/2022 1:10:30 PM PST by Bloodandgravy

Q: What moves could the United States make beyond sanctions right now that would help protect Ukraine?

A: The most important move now is for the president to announce Vladimir Putin is a war criminal. Really. This gives enormous diplomatic leverage and a greater incentive to help the campaign.

... Q: You advocate a no-fly zone?

A: Absolutely. The airspace belongs to Ukraine. If they ask for help, why can’t we fly airplanes in there? Say, oh, it’s because of the Russians, they might come up and contest it. That’s the Russians’ problem. They’re going to get shot down. Okay, then what? Putin says he’s going to use a nuclear weapon. If we back away from that challenge, if we don’t confront it, this is like a two-pair poker bluff, for incredibly high stakes.

But in most cases allies don’t plan on going to war with each other.

Hitler and Stalin both knew they would eventually clash.

Poland and Germany “allied” over the division of Czechoslovakia. I think traditionally, most allies have viewed these ties as purely transactional. NATO has been a huge exception, but the West (and maybe Japan) saw the end of the empire-building impulse at the end of WWII. Bottom line is that the average Western country would no more conquer and annex another country than it would revert to cannibalism. But that’s just the West (and maybe Japan).

Russia has core, strategic interest in Ukraine.

The US has none.

Why would the US fight an existential war with Russia over Ukraine?

It would be the very definition of insanity.

Ahhhh somebody brought that up. Let me give you a hypothetical that could very well come to be. Let's say that Russia threatens Western Ukraine, and Poland steps in and takes the part of Ukraine that belonged to them before WWII (Lwów), to protect the people there from the Russians. And let's say that the Russians then backoff from taking on the Poles and let them have the area. Would you then say that Poland and Russia were allies?

On a scale of 0 to 10, that alliance rates probably a 1 or a 2. But it looked bad. Note that Poland could have let a rump Czech government run the area. To my knowledge, that did not happen.

Mind you, it wasn’t even Czechoslovakia then it was “The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia”, the Germans didn’t care, they figured they’d get it in a year anyway.

My point too. Personally I could give a hoot what any country does. Place a foot on our soil though it’s game on. We should not be the world’s police force. We should not be supplying billions upon billions of dollars to other countries, yet we do. We do even for cou tries that freaking hate us!
Why is it We take care of everyone else’s problems yet we cannot even take care of our own citizens?

That dork General has been insufferable for decades. 🤪

I even complained to Fox News years and years ago for so much face time to a deranged libtard like him on a suppose conservative network.

Wesley Clark, the guy who almost started WWIII in Kosovo. He needs to just stay quiet.

And the newest guy who's getting ready to start WW3 is in the White House. The Dumbass.

We should not fall for Putin’s bluff about nuclear weapons. It would mean the end of Russia and Putin’s ambitions to reestablish the Soviet Union.

Was wondering if Putin is boxed in and decided to launch ONE tactical nuke to Estonia (destroying 82nd airborne), Berlin, or Ramstein Air Base, what should we do?

Just one nuke and then doesn't say anything except, "I warned you to not interfere. So don't interfere in Ukraine and don't allow Baltics or Ukraine to join NATO. Because I will consider it a threat and any country that engages Russian forces, supplies our enemies are enemies of Russia"

What do you think we'll do?

Then what do you thing they'd do?

Lots of people want NATO to attack, kill or destroy Putin, what are they willing and who are they willing to kill in order to do that?

Anybody want to offer their sons or grandsons to defend Ukrainian democracy?

What would we do?

It’s quite apparent that Putin is out of his mind, and he doesn’t care what happens next. He’s bound and determined that he’s going to get his way, and nobody will get in his way. He’s ready to die for “HIS” cause, and not the cause of the Russians or the Ukrainians or the world.

So, the only thing to do is to take him out. If we took 10 years and a lot of hard work to take out Bin Laden, Putin should be easier.

But, we don’t need to hunt him down, and perhaps somebody on the inside, a general or a confidant of Putin could do it for us. No need to risk a bigger war or nuclear war. It can be done, and a madman has to be taken out, one way or the other.
