LAKEWAY, Texas (AP) — Fighting to stay in office, George P. Bush — the last of the Bush family still on the ballot — greeted a small outdoor crowd at an Austin brewery sounding like most Republicans running in Texas’ primary Tuesday.
He’ll secure the border. He’ll support police. He didn’t mention Donald Trump, but his campaign passed out leaflets showing him with the former president: the man who mocked Bush’s father, shoved aside the Bushes as the GOP’s standard-bearer and isn’t endorsing him for Texas attorney general.
It’s a heated race that, if Bush doesn’t win, will take America’s most enduring political family out of elected office for one of the few times in the last 50 years.
“It’s distinguishing myself as opposed to just being known as a Bush,” he said afterward. “And that’s my challenge. That’s on me.”
Not long ago, winning wasn’t hard for Bush, 45, who is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, the nephew to one former president and the grandson of another. He was easily elected Texas’ land commissioner in 2014 and regarded then as not only the future of the Bush family but maybe the GOP itself — young, Hispanic and cutting a broader appeal.

The Bush name is a liability now, not an asset.
Too many years of betrayals.

Good. The country doesn’t need intergenerational elite families running the country.
He might not be a good guy; he might be a good guy.
Someone else can do the job without the risk.
George P. has other lines of work he can enter.
..early voting ended last Friday....don’t know anyone who admits voiting for him....another candidate, Eva Guzman, seems to have a somewhat questionable history regarding her stance on illegal aliens, CRT, etc. Ken Paxton might just keep his job after all....
Bush needs to go get a real job, and it is not in government, elected or otherwise. Paxton for the win.
Read My Lips: No More Bushes
I’ll be voting for Paxton.
Vote him out.
I’m more forgiving than the rest of you. Still he shouldn’t take down an incumbent like that. He should run for a house seat and quietly serve before calling it a career. Keep in mind W was anointed(2000) because we needed a winner. You think Dan Quayle had a chance back then?
As is Biden, Clinton, and Obama. Come to think of it, all democrats and RINOs.
I hope he gets absolutely crushed. No mas Booshes.

There’s nothing that distinguishes this guy except connections. And they’re all the wrong connections.
Boot him out.
I (early) voted for Paxton. The commercials I am seeing are mainly by Paxton in which he touts the support of Trump, for Eva Guzman who appears to the biggest Bushite in the race, and George P Bush. I have seen no commercials from Louis Gohmert and wonder why he even bothered to run. Bush’s ads are mainly targeting Guzman’s lack of support for The Wall, while Bush proclaims he will finish “Trump’s Wall”.
Me too. Anybody who can bring lawsuits against the Brandon Snowflake Admministration every damn day can’t be all bad.
No more shrubs....Molly Ivins
Republicans .. Four Candidates Democrats .. Five Candidates.
Yikes...45 years old and the work experience of a high school junior.
Avoid Clan Bush.
I voted for Paxton.
A lot of people don’t realize that Texas has an OPEN primary system.
You choose which primary you want to vote in when you go vote.
And have to follow that primary choice for any runoffs.
