KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — In a dramatic escalation of East-West tensions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian nuclear deterrent forces put on high alert Sunday in response to what he called “aggressive statements” by leading NATO powers. The order means Putin has ordered Russia’s nuclear weapons prepared for increased readiness to launch, raising the threat that the tensions could boil over into a nuclear war. In giving it, the Russian leader also cited hard-hitting financial sanctions imposed by the West against Russia, including Putin himself.

Something is WRONG with Putin this time around.
I didn’t believe we should get involved in this Ukraine mess at all.
First, I thought Putin’s troop buildup was for leverage.
Then the attacks were to just take parts of the east.
Then he went all in.
He is warning Finland and Sweden and talking about disproportionate response to threats.
He’s not all there anymore.
And he’s a de facto dictator.
And that is bad for everyone.
Those would be a logical first strike target along with Wilmington DE, and Biden’s house.
Yep, Ukraine may have very corrupt politicians and does need to be cleaned up, but it is not an autocratic dictatorship with basically no rights as Russia is now. People can speak freely and can work and try to better themselve in Ukraine, there is also a revival of Christianity there which will eventually help to clear out the corruption I believe. No one would choose Putin’s KGB style oppressive country where people get hauled off just for a quiet protest holding signs or saying the wrong thing on social media.
Indeed it is stunning. Russia is a paper tiger (barring an invasion of Russia itself). I noted on another thread that I knew Pooty was done when the Ukranian women said they were getting bombarded by Tinder requests to hook up. The Russian “soldiers” didn’t go there to fight those Ukranians. They went there to get laid.
I just hope someone in Russia can take Putin out before he loses it entirely.

I think he may have another motive for this announcenent.

Oddball reactions by a player in a conflict is never Four-Dimensional-Chess. They're just convoluted and often desperate reactions, usually because that player has no actual effective options. Or the player is just stupid.
Assuming this is true and that Putin literally carries out this nuclear option, exactly who/where would he target? Ukraine? All of Europe? The U.S.? How does he see this benefitting him in the long run? Makes no sense. If this is true then Putin has gone mad and needs to be taken out somehow.
My question is: How will President Poopy Pants respond?

Yes it’s been there, but since Stalin met his untimely demise at his dacha with the four closest Politburo guys around him, coincidence //sarc, it has never been in one man’s hand. And that man is insane and perhaps more insane after 2 years of isolation because of ccp vid. He cannot back down. So the question is does the West back down? Because I don’t see a Beria or Malenkov among Putin’s coterie.

Trump was a builder, casino owner, hotelier and reality show host. Putin was KGB,a trained and practiced killer, and consumed by unsatiable anger over the fall of the USSR. Also they see Ukraine getting its just do for helping to foist Biden on the US. Actually JimRob’s FR is probably the best site extant as it makes different sources available to us.

I would imagine the Russian people do not want to have anything to do with this. They already have enough Ukrainian blood on their hands from the Holodomor.
