Belarus
Not unless you count Oasis’ “gonna start a revolution from my bed” as a coup d’etat.

there certainly exist many nice belarussian people. hopefully though she and her family are now permanently outside belarussia.
Damn, I was going to declare myself the leader of Belarus but she beat me to the punch. You snooze, you lose.
I guess it’s just as well… the Belarusians likely wouldn’t accept an American of German & Scots-Irish descent as their leader.
Yeah really
Whoa. Interesting turn if true, and successful.
Wars have unintended consequences. Just think of how Austria-Hungary’s Franz Josef started WWI, which resulted in the end to that empire. With Putin obsessed with Ukraine, Russia will be less able to assist Lukashenko if the people their decide to revolt or call a general strike to cripple that regime.
My assumption is that Putin’s plan for the Ukraine war was for it to end with the creation of the NewSSR combining Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia into one country under his leadership.
To do that he may need to dispense with Lukashenko.
Ping
I said it was a possibility

One of those twatter photos is a fake as are many.
Tsikhanouskaya is currently living in exile in Poland. She has been disputing the 2021 presidential election and had already declared that she was the rightful new president of Belarus back in August. Without the support of the Belarus security forces her calls for a new government will come to nothing.
Ah, well I guess it’s a good time for her to chime in with all that’s going on
Tsikhanovskaya is in exile in Lithuania. Her husband, who dared to run against the dictator Lukashenka, is in a Belarusian prison. She has no authority or power beyond morality and righteousness.
Nevertheless, Belarus has thrown in with Russia and we can only hope that both Lukashenka and Putin will wind up at the end of a rope.
Marshal Mannerheim was from a Prussian family background, and yet the Finns seemed to like him. Hell, he didn’t even speak Finnish until the Finnish war of independence.
