OTTAWA — The House of Commons on Monday night approved the extraordinary and temporary measures in the Emergencies Act, heeding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s warning that the “state of emergency is not over,” even though police ended a three-week occupation in Ottawa and reopened border points to the U.S.
The motion to confirm the declaration of emergency passed 185-151, with the New Democrats voting in favour alongside the minority Liberal government.
The Conservatives and the Bloc Québécois opposed it.
The vote to approve the measures will keep them in place until mid-March at the latest and the Senate must also vote on the government’s request.
At any point, the Senate, House or government could pull support and the extraordinary powers stemming from the emergencies law would be torn up.
Speaking to reporters on Monday before the vote, Trudeau made it clear that there are still protesters and truckers awaiting an opportunity to come back to Ottawa, some of which are in the towns of Arnprior and Embrun, respectively 70 and 45 kilometres away from Ottawa.

The emergencies act has been used to criminalize actions which were legal when done (sending money to support the truckers) and uses extra legal punishments such as freezing bank accounts and cancelling insurance of those who disagree with the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
Yep, I brought up the ex post facto implications yesterday. Any thinking person should be utterly horrified by this, even more so because it is a law against a persons political belief in the past.
What is insane is no one, not even the punditry is talking about that aspect. Making a past belief illegal now and finding you guilty for it.
again, ABSOLUTLY TERRIFYING.
Canada’s Senate consists of 105 politicians, known as senators, who have been appointed by various Canadian prime ministers. They used to serve for life, but in 1965, this was changed to merely make their terms last until their 75th birthday (though the last life-term senator did not retire until 1999). Senators can’t be fired by the PM, but the Senate can vote to remove members from office if they are found guilty of committing what the Constitution describes as an “infamous crime” (this has never been done to date).
And I thought ours is bad...
What can the people to when the government goes rogue? I ask the same question for America because they are no longer “by and for the people.” Oh no as Biden said in a possible honest moment of clarity through his foggy mind:
“The government is ‘we the people.’”
Canada’s people can do something? Trudeau has made them non people including stealing their money, their trucks, businesses, dogs and at times their kids.
What is next?
Sounds like a run-away SCOTUS, after some packing.
Big city politicos are still pissed about the disruption of their morning latte commute.
What, did you guys think that Treudo was the only Nazi in Canada?
To end tyranny, citizens must exterminate tyrants
When there is law made up as you go, you have a state of tyranny

f the banker is dead, who will close the account?
Yes. Godwin’s Law does not apply when the object of the comparison actually DOES act like Hitler or Nazis.
If they keep this up they may end up with a REAL emergency.
So there are close to 200 Communists in the Canadian parliament. There are no longer any Democrats or Liberals. Do the voters in Canada like the fact that their government has stripped them of their rights?????
Well, i guess a name change is order to go along with their new communist government and dictator.
Chinada sounds pretty good. /s
Not if history is any guide.
His comment regarding the cops, "99% of them are unbelievably good people"
That's not what I saw. 99% of them want their paycheck and they'll beat, or watch getting beat, whomever stands against TrueDoh.
I've been pro cop my entire life but what I've seen in the last few days really pisses me off.
Yep. 15 days to flatten the curve sort of thing. Governments do not give up what they steal.
A blockade does nothing.
If the truckers are serious, they should call for a nationwide strike.
