The former University of Alabama vice president for student life, Myron Pope, resigned after being arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution by the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force.
Pope’s arrest was one of 15 in a sting in which men arranged to pay for sex through an online app and were arrested after speaking to an undercover officer at the agreed-upon location, the Crimson White reported.
“I have difficult news to share today. Vice President of Student Life Myron Pope has resigned from the University following his recent arrest,” University of Alabama President Stuart R. Bell told the campus community Friday. “We understand this news will be difficult for our community. I will appoint an interim Vice President of Student Life and that person, along with the many professionals in the division, will remain available to all of us. Please continue to take care of yourselves and one another.”
Multiple media outlets report Pope was booked into the Tuscaloosa County jail on Thursday and released after posting $1,000 bail. Pope is also a former Crimson Tide football player, the Birmingham News says.
The names of the other men arrested have not been released, but all 15 are charged with a misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution as a result of the sting. Some face additional felony charges.

I say boy.
This is racist! I’m not exactly sure why, but I’m sure it’s racist somehow!
So the guy went to the cops and asked them to arrest him for prostitution?
This is what happens when woke graduates get reporting jobs.
Having been brought up Catholic, I used to feel very differently about this topic. Now, I say as long as we are talking about two consenting adults here, that kind of a transaction should not be a crime. There are bigger fish to be fried in this day and age. Drug related crimes.
If this were run in a more businesslike manner, as I assume used to be the case in Nevada, it would be clear whether someone was being forced to do this. That possibility will always be a hazard.
Ha ha ha...
Yeah. Sure...
He wasn’t fired for soliciting.
He was fired for soliciting a woman.
If he’d have solicited a guy or a minor boy, he’d have gotten
a raise.
So what was the app that got him in trouble? I’ve heard that Kik is the Wild West.
Fentanyl coming in from Mexico.
Having the last name of “Pope” somehow makes it all seem even worse.
Heck some official in UK’S Parliament was photographed soliciting prostitutes ‘during session’ on his hand held computer.
Vice President for Life?
Really?
I think it is sad. It’s not the first time sex has derailed someone’s career.
He must be pretty well coordinated! Lol!
Multi-tasking is what they call it these days.
LOL!
“I was just trying to live my best life!”
The odds that it was a boy are 1000 to zero. He should have been able to get a student assistant to take care of him. I seriously doubt if they kicked him out of the system. Go to the University of Alabama ....say April. The chances of running to him there is the same that one day you will die. 100%. He should have Andrew Gillum’s phone number. It is not that far from where he is to where Andrew is. Time they split the difference, it would only be a hop and skip.
oh that's right, someone might tell your wife or your children.....
same as stripers....
The Fentanyl coming in from Mexico will not be stopped, or even slowed down. Each member of Congress gets a cut of the profits. Plus they are supplied with Cocaine for their noses.
Hell, everything is racists now.
He was examining the quality of student life around campus to make sure area prostitutes were of acceptable skill. Sounds like he was just doing due diligence. What’s the problem here?
