A man taking time lapse images of the Milky Way also captured a series of odd light swirls in the sky, and the resulting footage has ignited talk of UFO activity off North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
Artist Wes Snyder is well known in the Southeast for his coastal photography — particularly images taken at night — but even he is at a loss for what the rotating red trails might be.
The lights are seen multiple times in his video — always along the horizon — and they appear to be circling something.
Snyder says the movement defies easy explanation, when taking into account the time lapse process: Each photo is taken with a 10-second exposure, with one second in between.

Hillary trying to get out of the tangled web
Riding on her broomstick thumbing for a hitch.
Interesting. And a very experienced witness / photographer.
Don’t drop the brown acid...
“My bet is that it’s military aircraft training over the Pamlico Sound.”
Judging from the maneuvers I’d agree.
I watched the video. My guess is UAV’s.
Probably
I like UFO threads. They’re always a relaxing distraction.
Say.... where did they go since the first claim anyway??
Wasn’t there a plane crash there recently?
We live on the southwestern shore of Colington Island on the Sound facing southwest. We see and hear military jets every day. We’ve watched similar lights in the sky, and we’re quite sure they are military. I think the speed of the film is a bit deceiving - they’re not moving as fast as perceived. In addition, we’ve seen some move very fast, but not out of the envelope of military craft. If you look on Flightaware live at craft over the Pamlico and Albemarle Sound at various times, you can track non-commercial aircraft doing some crazy flight patterns. They are obviously not ‘alien’ - they are designated with a ‘C’ designation and obviously have their transponders on, or Flightaware could not track them.
Our neighbor is a commercial fisherman who has spent years on the Sounds and off the coast. He’s told me of watching dogfights, of jets diving on the deck and zooming back up again, he’s been ‘buzzed’ and had multiple sonic booms rattle his boat.
I agree, I’ll go with ACM, 1 v. 1, or 2 v. 1.
“Wasn’t there a plane crash there recently?”
Yes, tragically, eight people lost their lives off shore in the Atlantic. That was further south of Nags Head offshore to the east. Horrible.
They’re still trying to slow down and stop their first one.
I am in Wilmington, NC and last week I was looking up at the stars to the east about 10 pm. A bright light appeared in the middle of the stars I was focused on, slowly moved over a bit and then shot off to the south, disappearing in a matter of seconds. This part of the country is a major hotspot for UFOs.
Very cool! Saw a similar thing during a camping trip on Mt. Rainier.
I checked off the NC coast tonight but no UFO’s only a bright full moon.
Wow!!! 🛸
