After police cleared the Ambassador Bridge Sunday morning, talk turned to how to deal with the Ottawa protesters, with a senior Liberal cabinet musing about bringing in the War Measures Act.
“We have an emergency act that I will tell you, there has been a near-constant and vigorous examination of those authorities and what’s required,” Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair said in an interview on CTV’s Question Period Sunday.
When circumstances exceed the capacity of the provinces to manage it under their authorities, we’re quite prepared to use additional authorities that are available to the federal government.
The last time the WMA was brought in was1970 by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau at the height of the FLQ October Crisis.
The renamed Emergencies Act was passed in 1988 and has never been used.
"We are prepared to use every tool available to us, including emergency powers and to make sure that we bring every resource of the federal government to bare. This is a critical situation for the country,” said Blair.
“The closing of our borders, the targeting on critical infrastructure, particularly our points of entry by the people behind these protests, is a significant national security threat to this country, and we have to do what is necessary to end it.”
Thousands of Freedom Convoy truckers have paralyzed the nation’s capital for more than two weeks demanding an end to vaccine mandates.
And Blair blasted police in Ottawa for not being able to shift the protesters.
“The country needs the police to do their job,” said Blair, a former Toronto police chief.
“We need them to enforce our laws, to restore peace and order at our borders and in our cities, and we need them to use the tools that are available to them. And frankly, I don’t want to have any arguments over jurisdiction. I think very clearly and I’m in agreement with all Canadians: We all need the police to do their job, and we’re listening very carefully to the police on what they need to do their job.”
Earlier Sunday, police in Windsor cleaned up the remnants of a week-long blockade of the Ambassador Bridge to Michigan.
Only a handful of protesters remained with some being arrested for mischief. Police also towed away several big rigs.
Two border blockades continue in Alberta — at Coutts and Milk River — and one remains in place at Surrey.
These idiots are too stupid to remember the LONG TERM DAMAGE that the War Measures Act did to Canada in 1970!
Before the October Crisis, Quebec separatists were a small minority. After the mass arrests, many in the wee hours of the morning, WITHOUT COURT ISSUED WARRANTS, the suspending of the writ of habeas corpus, and internment for up to 72 hours, without charge, without legal representation, and without next of kin being notified, the newly formed (1968) separatist 'Parti Quebecois' became in 'Official Opposition' in 1973, and won the government in 1976. They tried several separation referenda, but lost each by a tiny amount.
The good news is, that this plays well into Western separation!

So they have enough “marshalls” to enforce it?
They are pretty thin on military numbers IIRC.
They would rather use war powers on their citizens instead of easing up a little on COVID-19 edicts to avoid looking weak from "giving in to demands."
Are they there to protect the rights of the citizens, or are the citizens there to serve at the pleasure of the rulers?

If the Trucker blockades get removed, what is the next best thing, truckers slow down the deliveries to a snail’s pace.
Take the bridge at Windsor, it’s supposedly open now, what if the truckers start crossing the bridge at 5 mph, side by side, creating major traffic jams in the process, slow the delivery process down to a point it caused major disruptions.
The trucks remain operational but operate at a level that disrupts everything.
That will get him lynched!

It is with good reason that it was the CEF that was the ‘point of the spear’ for EVERY Allied attack during the ‘100 days’ in 1918! The Germans feared the CEF above ALL armies, starting from the time of the 2nd Battle of Ypres, to the point that the CEF was disguised for each move on the front, so the Germans wouldn’t know where the next attack would be!

Now at the drop of a hat, all that has changed. If people cannot see this stunning hypocrisy and double-standards, then I've got no hope for you when the Globalists take over and the very cops that people are supporting and backing will turn into mercenaries overnight.
Trudeau and his fellow tyrants declared a State of Emergency to open up the bridge so that GM and auto companies get their way.
He declared a State of Emergency to close down small business during covid so that he and his government got their way to rule as tyrants..
It always works so that the tyrant gets the win. The people are ignored.
Point remains, the bridge will likely be open soon, if that happens there is more than one way to retaliate, go back to work but operate at less than 50% capacity.
