House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has conceded that January 6th was a 'violent insurrection,' saying he agreed with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's description of that day.
'No one would disagree with that,' McCarthy told reporters on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
His clarification comes after McCarthy was mocked by Democrats for walking away from an ABC News reporter who was asking him about the Republican National Committee censure of Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney for serving on the committee investigating the insurrection.

They have to keep using the "violent insurrection" language going. It's their only means to, using the 14th amendment, keep certain individuals from holding office again.
It WAS a violent insurrection. An ‘insurrection’ on the part of the FBI, DOJ and Capitol Police inciting violence, committing violence and MURDER, and illegally imprisoning innocent protestors in the DC Abu Ghraib Prison.
If J6 was a “violent insurrection” how come no one has been charged with insurrection?

What’s important is that Kevin McCarthy is up for election. If McCarthy runs unopposed then vote for a Democrat.
The RNC vote to censure REALLY got under their skin. It’s very apparent.
I was chatting with a fellow Creeper who thinks the RNC is hearing it from donors. And I’ve yelled in their ears several times when they call.
So the chasm is deepening between regular republicans and the “leadership” in Congress.
Their cozy little world of fund, elect, and reelect continues to be torn asunder.

The ‘hail Mary’ pass here by the swamp is, if Trump can be charged with abetting an insurrection, he is constitutionally and forever ineligible to run for political office.

Rhona at the RNC has got to go, and we need new leadership in the House and Senate, end of story. If not we are wasting our time IMHO....
Its a bit of a non-issue for voters, so Democrats and Democrat Assistants can cry about all they want but it won’t change any votes. Violent insurrectionists are usually well armed.
I am not “shocked” or “surprised” one iota. McCarthy is a Squish and has always been a Squish. Same as the Post Turtle, McConnell.
