CNN's left-wing bias may become a thing of the past when it is spun off to Discovery later this year, with the largest shareholder of the network's new owners eager to restore it to impartiality.
John Malone, a billionaire Trump donor, is the CEO of Liberty Media, Discovery's largest shareholder. He retains a 25 percent voting share in Discovery, which will take control of WarnerMedia and its assets - including CNN - later this year.
With Jeff Zucker gone, that seems more likely than ever.
It's unclear which political direction Discovery CEO David Zaslav wants to take the network in. On Friday morning, he shocked CNBC hosts by calling the network 'the leader of news to the left'.
Mediaite interpreted his remark as a reference to the political left however he has since clarified that he was talking about the 'left' side of the company portfolio, with sports being on the 'right'.
On CNBC, he refused to talk about the scandal, but said: 'Jeff is a good friend of mine. I can't speak to this issue. We don't own the company yet. In terms of CNN+ we couldn't be more excited about the fact that they've been hiring great journalists.'

CNN sucks
They will need to fire most of their people in order to regain credibility.
With FOX swerving way over to the left, now would be a good time for one of the other news networks to start swerving back towards the right. They could pick up some hefty ratings.
When CNN began, it was pretty good. They used their massive amount of broadcast time to cover a lot of deep subjects. They also had Don Farmer and Chris Curl, a husband and wife news team in the morning. They gradually went full suck as the eighties progressed and restored their brand with the Gulf War. Then back to vampire level suck that has multiplied ever since.
The damage is done. Even if CNN returns to more of a real news station, millions have grown up with its left wing bias and “official status” due to its running in airports. Just kill it and start over.
Well it’s good news that a major stakeholder in CNN is fighting to restore it to neutrality.
Good Luck with that. That’s a huge undertaking.
Imagine 200 years in the future when CNN stands for Conservative News Network. One can dream.
Where is CNN going to find real Journalists? There aren’t many USA educated ones around. All our schools do is crank out Democrat party propagandists.
Sky news maybe?
I do not know how one would change the Communist News Network into something credible.
Don’t think so, heard today they tried to recruit Gayle King for a lot more than she is making now.
People forget that CNN was a balanced network until the left co-opted TedTurner through Jane Fonda courting and marrying him and his moving to New England becoming part of that social scene.
I remember those days with Don and Chris. I also remember pre-CNN with Ted Turner. My favorite part, which I consider to be miles better than CNN, was the talking German Shepherd giving the news on air. (They actually put peanut butter in the dog’s mouth to make him lick and appear like he was talking.)
Time to get rid of Democrat Jake The Fake.
slight correction
My wife said she was flipping through channels yesterday and said there was a report on the 2020 election on CNN she stopped to watch. She said to her amazement there was even an inference made that the election made have been ripe with fraud. I said on CNN? She said yep. When I told her about Zucker she said she hadnโt heard that yet, but that the report she had just seen was nothing like typical CNN. Maybe a change will actually take place, although Iโm certainly not holding my breath.
“CNN’s left-wing bias may become a thing of the past”
Doesn’t matter.
No one will pay attentiont it ever again, because there is no reason to watch it.
Last century is sooooooooo last century.
Suppose they offered a more conservative version of Fox News and competed for the same audience; I wonder what would happen.
