The White House has reportedly floated an offer to Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow Kremlin access to key NATO bases in exchange for Moscow de-escalating tensions over its military buildup on Ukraine’s border.
The proposal would also involve discussions about Russia verifying that the US has not deployed Tomahawk cruise missiles to bases in Romania and Poland, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.
The reported offer would be contingent on agreement from US allies, including Romania and Poland, while Russia would also have to provide similar information about bases with ground-launched weapon systems.
The overture reportedly is intended to ease Putin’s fears that the US could target Russia with the missiles.

Russia is not a threat to invade Germany or England. It makes no sense then that buying Russian gas threatens their security. Europe should worry more about NATO imperialism.

1939, the Allies are negotiating with the Soviet Union to help Poland. The Soviets need to get permission from Poland and Romania to enter their territory. Of course, Poland and Romania refuse. We all know what happened after that. Stalin got a better offer from Hitler, and the war was on.

Ukraine had a chance to hold onto the breakaway republics 7 years ago then Putin persuaded the rebels to accept their cultural autonomy through the federalization of Ukraine. The plan was authored by the current German President Steinmeier.
Then the coupsters realized that the “pro-Western” government won’t hold in Kiev if the voting rights return to the East and started to drag on the plan.
The rest is history after so many years. Donbas is de-facto independent and it is better for everyone to let it float.
It seems rather unlikely that Putin is afraid of NATO he’s just trying to take advantage of Western media hysteria.
