The questions that arise in the face of any boycott effort—whether against an unethical retailer, a disgraced performer, or an exploitative employer—can be paralyzing. We live in a world of compromise and wickedness, built of systems guided not by virtue but by profit. So why, the boycotter must be asked, draw the line here? We also live in a world in which individuals rarely ever wield more power than institutions. Can any one person’s resistance matter?

I thought the counter culture artists of the 60s were all about fighting government rule and for cultural freedom. Spotify has music but also pod casts content such as "For You the War is Over" a great series about POW escapes during WWII. XM Radio the land of dead DJs and repititious music now has an all Neal Young channel. Listen to Joe Rogan or don't but the has been musical artists of the 60s should have no say in this matter.
Who knew that the 1960s “rebels” would grow up to be squares and tools of the establishment?
I don’t know what spotify is. Am I better off?
Spotify has never made any money streaming money, and the chance of future profits is pretty small. They’re the archetype of losing money on every sale and make it up in volume - and so far it isn’t working. If they keep on losing money, eventually investors will stop supplying capital and they will go out of business.
So they are looking for something they can make money on. They paid Joe Rogan $100 million because they thought it would be a profitable deal.
People have tried to sell me on Spotify for years. I think it's just a way to stream a "mix tape" of your favorite songs. I listen mainly to Classical music, and I like to listen to complete works, like a symphony, etc. I don't want the movements broken into "song tracks". I also listen to Sinatra's Capitol albums and prefer them complete as opposed to a mixup of songs.
s/b “...money streaming music....”
Yes, JimRob, we’re still looking for the edit function so we can fix dumb mistakes.
Hypocritical Neil Young famously entitled one of his concert tours as the “Free Speech” Tour.
No real principles, just has his own pig-headed opinion and is being a jackass to anyone who differs.
There are separate streaming services for classical music. I think Idagio is the biggest one with the largest catalog.
The “60s rebels” sold out
they’re merely shilling for whatever Big Government says now ... that very monster they used to protest in the streets about, and said we should never trust, now is their best pal
FREEPERS (and other real conservatives) are the REAL rebels now, because we’re the only ones standing up to the Government propaganda ... the only ones ... Big Media sure isn’t
I will have to look at that too.
Every so often I like a long block of classical music.
Most of what I have and like is TV and movie soundtracks, usually vintage stuff.
I either listen to Symphony Hall on Sirius in my truck or one of my thumb drives loaded with stuff. I have a gazillion CDs to rip to thumb drives.
On my work computer, I have folders with lots of music or I just bring along another thumb drive. I think a lot of the people who stream have given up on physical media like CDs.
Saw a funny meme today.
Ages 0-45: who is Neil Young?
Ages 45-65: I thought Neil Young was dead?
Ages 65-up: what is Spotify?
I might have the age ranges wrong, but you get the idea.
It's the only one I'd consider paying for.
If you like classical you might enjoy theclassicalstation.com
Terrific catalog and they are a bit traditional.
eff Spotify, you go Neil, go Joni! Rogan was a Bernie sanders guy

I forget about YouTube sometimes.
If I could find someone to hook my 6 cd player to a system I would play my music
You’re an idiot.
You did?
You didn't notice that most of them were pushing fascism? That did not clue you in?
At all?
Try serenade radio. Nice
