Two new polls show Florida governor Ron DeSantis with a realistic shot of defeating Donald Trump in a 2024 primary.
The former president remains the strong favorite, but he’s under 50 percent in the latest YouGov survey:
GOP Presidential Polling:
Trump: 46%
DeSantis: 21%
Pence: 6%
Haley: 6%
Carlson: 2%

A new poll by Echelon Insights shows that DeSantis’s position has improved in the last few months in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup:
TRUMP v. DESANTIS two-way GOP primary:
Trump 57%
DeSantis 32%
In October, this was Trump +40. Today, it's Trump +25. pic.twitter.com/1vYJYby3EN— Patrick Ruffini (@PatrickRuffini) January 27, 2022
As pollster Patrick Ruffini notes, Trump’s lead over DeSantis is only 16 points among Republicans who have heard of the Florida governor. We are of course still 24 months from the kickoff of presidential primaries and caucuses — plenty of time for average Republican voters to get to know DeSantis.

And the EverTrumpers were out immediately, as usual.
What’s that have to do with it?
They’re quoting other polls. Not their own.
DeSantis continues to impress, with the broadest coalition of support yet.
“And the EverTrumpers were out immediately, as usual.”
Yep, this is a pro-Trump site!!!!
They’re here.
“They’re here.”
No kidding, I smoked them out!
Depends on your definition of “NeverTrump”.
JR has not been as sensitive as EverTrumpers from my POV.
I think it’s likely that DeSantis will lead Trump in the future since he’s the one with accomplishments to show for his time in office.
Also, there’s a chance a dark horse could pop in to lead both of them, and others, when all is said and done.
That despite all his talk of building the border wall, he didn’t get it done and left intact a desperately flawed immigration system.
No mention that Republicans impeded his wall, and Congress is responsible for immigration, but he did do something to stem the tide of illegals into this nation with his remain in Mexico efforts. In fact, he did more than any other president.
Then they go on to say:
That he rattled China’s cage but didn’t make fundamental changes to the trading relationship and was too complimentary of President Xi Jinping.
Again, he has been the first president to even rattle the cage regarding China, but they do not even recognize that you get more with honey than you do vinegar.
Why does anyone post articles from this pathetic site? They have about as much to offer as does the Huffington Post, which is zero as far as I am concerned.
Pro-Trump is not the same as Ever-Trump.
Heck, I don’t even know what “Ever Trump” means. First I’ve heard it is now.
Desantis has a great track record in this last few disastrous years, but I think that will combine with his youth to get ahead. Trump is just too. Old.
Of course someone else could pop up.
I’d like Rand Paul. As long as he’s not as looney as his dad.
NR attempt to stir up fruction.
I agree. When he sticks to his written text, he has given some great speeches. Extemporaneously speaking is often covering my ears kind of thing. When I have expressed the same thought as you, the response is - well he was effective enough to get elected - which is true. He knows the detail but has a tough time winning the persuadeables out there.
It’s an opposite to the epithet Never-Trump.
It means Always Trump but I like that it is just one letter from the epithet always used.
“I’d like Rand Paul. As long as he’s not as looney as his dad.”
Rand has his loony streaks too, such as when he said he was fine being censored by Twitter, because Twitter is a ‘private’ company. Would he have responded the same if DC Bell (or whoever) cut off his office phone lines...after all, they’re a ‘private business’ too?
I’ll take either one.
all i care about is desantis winning reelection for florida governor in less than 10 months...
2028 is 6 years away...
Emotionally I’m a huge Trump fan. Realistically, I see nothing wrong with DeSantis
That’s funny.
Overall I think Trump does better extemporaneously.
However, I DO know what you mean….there is too much repetition, simplicity, etc. “the greatest, the greatest. Incredible. Incredible.”
Never mind the fact he talks how hes done the greatest everything all the time. Not.
As far as speeches, I find Trump tired and monotonic when reading speeches.
So, I really don’t know which is better.
