Comparisons with myocarditis rates following infection now irrelevant as vaccination no longer prevents infection.
A recent study published on January 25, 2022, on JAMA Network, has shown that the risk of myocarditis following mRNA COVID vaccination is around 133 times greater than the background risk in the population.
The study, conducted by researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as from several U.S. universities and hospitals, examined the effects of vaccination with products manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. The study’s authors used data obtained from the CDC’s VAERS reporting system which were cross-checked to ensure they complied with CDC’s definition of myocarditis; they also noted that given the passive nature of the VAERS system, the number of reported incidents is likely to be an underestimate of the extent of the phenomenon.
1626 cases of myocarditis were studied, and the results showed that the Pfizer-BioNTech product was most associated with higher risk, with 105.9 cases per million doses after the second vaccine shot in the 16 to 17 age group for males, and 70.7 cases per million doses after the second shot in the 12 to 15 age group for males. The 18 to 24 male age group also saw significantly higher rates of myocarditis for both Pfizer’s and Moderna’s products (52.4 and 56.3 cases per million respectively).
The study found that median time to symptom onset was two days, and that 82 percent of cases were in males, consistent with previous studies. Around 96 percent of affected people were hospitalized, with most treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; 87 percent of those hospitalized had resolution of symptoms by time of discharge.

My 19 year old son was required to take the booster to enroll in Cal State for Spring semester—I advised him to get the J&J instead of the other 2. Better for his heart.
The opposite advice for my teen daughter. The J&J is not good for young women.

I’m 59, with 5 co-morbidities and had the J&J last June due to an employment requirement. I would not have taken it otherwise as I’d already had Covid in Jan ‘20. I developed Pericarditis within two weeks of vaccination. I was hospitalized in December for Pericarditis. Pericarditis can cause back-pressure in the heart and potential heart attack or valve damage.
I strongly advise against vaccination of young, healthy people who are without co-morbidities. Heart damage and death are unacceptable side effects for a virus which is 100% survivable for healthy, young people.

Sorry for you. In my book a crime against humanity forcing people who have had COVID and therefore have antibodies to get a vaccine they don’t need that is injuring or killing them if they want to work, eat and survive. Will pray for you.
Need to pressure Trump and Republicans to expand vaccine injury or death payout systems, make VAERS reporting mandatory for doctors and nurses and seriously revisit immunity agreements for Big Pharma.
My 50 yr old son, forced to get the jab to keep his job, was diagnosed with myocarditis. Symptoms started within 48 hrs. Lying down in bed makes it worse. I think often, what else is happening in his body that we don’t know about. My 51 year old son in law died 28 days after his second shot after 2 weeks in hospital, they sent him home. One of my grandsons, in the Navy, was forced to get the jab but no symptoms yet. A heavy heart for families who voluntarily lined up and are suffering from the resulting side effects.
God help us.

I personally knew two women who were over the age of 70 but otherwise healthy who each suddenly dropped dead within two weeks of their second shot, one with a heart attack and the other with a stroke. Neither had any history of heart problems or blood clots. These deaths and countless others are not reported as having anything to do with the vaccines.
My young adult children and myself plan to travel in 2022 to Hawaii, Canada, and the UK. We also live in CA in a county with “vax passports” to enter restaurants and one of my adult children attends Cal State (his choice) and another will attend UC in two years.
So yes, we are all vaxxed and will continue to get boosters as required for travel and college. It’s not my choice, and I’m against both mask and vax mandates, but that’s the option presented us: stay unvaxxed and have no access to what we want to do, or get vaxxed for access.
Nothing to do with our health.
I know there are risks to the vax, but we accept those risks in order to get access to what we want to do in life.

It depends what you mean by “participate in society.” I REALLY want to travel during the next decade in particular, and I will jump through whatever hoops I need to in order to do so.
I don’t think the United States or other countries I want to travel to will require me to hold a chicken egg inside my anus.
And as for the vax—I think it helps somewhat. But I’m under 55 and I have ZERO comorbidities. Therefore I think I would be fine unvaxxed with covid. (Statistically speaking.) I got vaxxed in order to travel.
Your post is interesting. Because the government is our enemy, we assume that anybody doing what the government says is our enemy. I don’t see you demanding that others do as you do. You have decided it’s the best course for you.
