"...but that it can also infect people who have been vaccinated to a greater extent..." Might, possibly, could, should, slight chance...... So in other words, as usual, nobody knows nuffin' yet for sure. Well except tony fauxnocchio. Can hardly wait until BS.2.0 variant is revealed. Remain "NON GMO"! Went to my VA appointments yesterday that had been postponed from last month. The person that does the ultra sound on my carotid and the nurse practitioner had both been out with CONvid. Both vaxxed and boosted. To keep their jobs at the VA they had to submit. Well, I guess they didn't HAVE to. Just about all the folks we know that have been vaxxed/boosted have contratcted it or contracted it a 2nd time. Uh, no thanks.

The Stealth Variant. So stealth you never know you have it. That’s what makes it so dangerous.

That includes everyone, you idiot.

Here in Texas, most people do not care, they just want to get on with their lives, and the state government understands that.

It's the dictator dem governors who don't.

Looks like the fauch has got some serious competition in the flip-flop department.

Isn't that gobbledygook simply saying that this variant is more contagious for both the unvaccinated and vaccinated?

Let me know when the variant arrives that you can get sitting alone in your house, miles from other people - now that one’s really contagious!

Not a game changer.

This sounds like essentially the same scenario as the original Omicron, with only marginally more speed and spread.

We are about pegging the meter for spreading immunity across the population already, this will just be a bit of caulking in the remaining cracks.

I’m still waiting on catching the more contagious Delta Variant that I was promised last year.

Just had 3 vaxxed people out of 8 in my office get COVID and my unvaxxed wife and I were exposed to all three. No illness for us.

I have been going unmasked this whole time except for wearing a thin neck gaiter you can see through when mandatory. Been taking vitamins D3 ,C ,B complex, Zinc, Quercetin, and NAC since February 2020. Kept my dirty hands away from my eyes, nose, and mouth.

We haven’t been sick with anything since December 2019 which then wasn’t COVID.

We have had oh-my-chron, still do sort of. The snot factory is still open. Shudder to think if that mess was in our lungs. Never even thought about that with a cold. The junk just hangs on and on and on.

We are unjabbed and plan to remain that way.

Local hospital is full for the first time since this mess began. It appears to be a place to go to die for the most part.

Apparently no more monoclonal antibodies since the gooberment declared they don’t work on oh-my-chron. Sure is odd after they worked so well on the previous versions.

Limited staff so who is taking care of whom?

This isn’t going away and their vaccination is as futile as one for the cold or the many mutations of the flu.

Better get off their high horse and focus on therapeutics or just withdraw from the field.

Watching this year’s flock of Canada Geese graze in the pasture. There are about two dozen of them this year on the pond. Just don’t see how they find enough to eat but they do.

“Consider the lilies of the field. Are they not clothed in the finest raiment?”

I try to ease my mind with those thoughts when I have concern for God’s creatures. Sometimes it helps.

I don’t buy the notion the next variant will necessarily be “more contagious”. Granted it’s a bit in the definition and timing.

As Omicron rapidly sweeps through the population, immunity, or, more properly, perhaps, resistance to it (all sources taken together) in the population has built and will continue to build. We can argue about how long it will hold up, but it seems likely another variant, perhaps Son-of-Omicron here, will pop up with immunity evading capacity and become the dominant strain / variant before Omicron resistance fades. The new variant does not have to beat Omicron’s infectivity during most of the Omicron wave, to become dominant in a wave of its own. It only has to beat Omicron’s lower effective infectiousness @ the end of Omicron’s run. The “Son” could end up spreading in its own wave only 1/4 as fast as Omicron did during the Omicron wave, and dominate.

Even 1/4 the rate of spread would be great success (for the virus).
