Poll: Trump leads 2024 GOP field with DeSantis in distant second
The Hill ^ | January 24, 2022 | Max Greenwood

In a hypothetical eight-person GOP presidential primary, Trump holds a clear edge, garnering 57 percent support among Republican voters. DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence are nearly deadlocked at 12 percent and 11 percent, respectively. No other would-be candidate tested in the poll registers double-digit support.

Should Trump forgo another campaign for the White House, however, DeSantis would supplant him as the frontrunner. The Florida governor scores 30 percent support in a field that doesn’t include Trump, while Pence takes second place at 24 percent.

DeSantis is not a national figure, yet. About 2028, he will be the face of MAGA.

“harvard/harris poll”

Meh. How could Benedict Arnold Pence tie with Desantis at 24 w/o Trump? Another fake poll.

Why is it people here always call polls fake because of Mike Pence’s support, even when said support is in single digits? Bill Weld got frickin’ 9% of the vote vs. President Trump in the 2020 New Hampshire primary. It’s really not that hard to believe the GOP has around 10%+ of its electorate in the #NeverTrump Lincoln Project camp, and they probably like Pence more than DeSantis.

A lot can happen between now and then. My heart goes with Rand Paul depending on the sheeple realizing what freedom really is. We’re talking 2-3 years and if DJT ends up with only one term he’ll still go down as the greatest in my lifetime as one who set the table for Paul rather than the experienced executives in line. Obama broke the mold for the left and Rand would be ideal for the right.

The GOPe will work 24 -7 to make sure President Trump does not return to power. They are backstabbing traitors that can not be trusted. Pay attention what they do not what they say. MAGA or death.

“Disturbing that Pence registers at all.“

On the other hand it’s quite reassuring. Pence is the face of the RINO brigade and Trump haters and he stands at a mere 11%.

As it should be, FAKE POLL or not.
Consider it FAKE as
it does show Pence leading the Governor
by one point... IMPOSSIBLE! Pence is but
a pinch hitter when compared to DeSantis,
known to knock the ball out of the park.

My fear is that Trump will choose DeSantis. Florida is a base of sanity, we need DeSantis here. Also, he is giving courage to other governor’s that are no doubt watching him. He would be a good choice for president following Trump.

Any poll that shows Pence with more than 3% support is bogus. Backstabbing duplicitous phony cowards need not apply.

It is! I can’t believe people would want milquetoast Mike especially after his backstabbing of Trump.

The Republican establishment types still comprise about 25% of the party and Pence is their preferred candidate.

It’s early yet, but like last time, with Trump in the lead to catch the slings and arrows, the other candidates, when they emerge, will have a chance to find their footing in the race before they are totally savaged by most of the media.

In 2016, I thought Trump would ultimately falter and Cruz would come out mostly unscathed. I didn’t expect (though I should have) that some would come out at the last minute for Trump over Cruz, either because they thought they could push Trump around more (because he was an outsider) or because they feared Cruz might beat Hillary which Trump could “never” do.
