(Irrational fear of noses)
Because it’s political.
In my family it’s a simple matter of getting my daughters and sisters to admit they were wrong. And that I was right.
“What may be less obvious is why anti-maskers hold pro-maskers in equal contempt. “
They are held in contempt because pro-maskers are forcing everyone to wear masks. While anti-maskers believe it should be an individual freedom. You want to wear a mask, go for it, just don’t try to force me to wear one.
The face diaper is the new fascist arm band.
We have allowed Deep State to pit us against one another.
For God’s sake, people, stop obliging.
Why did Nazi’s wear swastika arm bands? Same reason.
And 'Politics' is actually the deadly, virulent disease that we are discussing here.
Because we hate being bossed and told what to do, especially when it's something stupid.
Doing my informal survey at the Publix, I’ve noticed an upsurge in masks, even double masks and face shields. I live in Florida, where it’s not mandatory, btw.
Somehow the order must have come out from liberal central to start up the hysteria machine again. I would guess it’s the message of the various TV “news” shows these people like to watch.
The thing is that while I think they’re silly and making their own lives unnecessarily miserable, mask-wearers think I’m an enemy and a threat that must be eliminated. (Although if they really believe masks help, theirs alone should do it, right?)
They’re full of hatred and anger at non-mask wearers because we’re not reinforcing their fear, and also because no-masks is a visible sign we are not worshipping the government, which has assumed the place of God in their lives, and this is an insult to their faith.
“That more than half of our country willingly obeys completely irrational orders raises the question: What irrational orders from the state would they not obey?”
If they had the power, they’d do anything to us that the government ordered. So far they don’t have the power. So far.
'It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.'
In my family it’s a simple matter of getting my daughters and sisters to admit they were wrong.
Which leads to another factoid:
"After finding out they HAVE been fooled, they very seldom will admit it."
Personal integrity: not lying and promoting others to fear.
You hit the nail on the head.
True. All political. It’s sad. The reasonable thing to do:
Let the elderly and those in fragile health (and their close family and caregivers) wear their masks and take whatever other steps (like avoiding crowds, etc.) to try to keep from catching Covid (or flu or whatever), while the rest us live our normal lives.
Hardly anyone around here has worn a mask for at least the past eight or nine months or so. A church friend whose wife has MS and a neighbor whose husband is undergoing cancer treatment do wear masks. They are doing their best to protect their elderly loved ones who are in very fragile health. Both are staunch conservatives, but sometimes when they see an acquaintance at the grocery store they get asked “What’s with the mask? Turned liberal on us?”
Why don’t we all just leave each other alone? I guess those days are gone :(
I do hope that all this will be over very soon thanks to Omicron.
Like boden said about the bright peoples. Vaxed are also are HIS brightest.
Augmenting the biden appraisaling report. Aspersions off.
These people have shown themselves to be untrustworthy, a liability, somewhere between a child and a sociopath. If they'll behave without adult rational thought, they're capable of anything at the behest of some state official or cult leader.
And I wear a mask in my building because the HOA assess stiff fines if I'm caught in the common areas without a mask.
Correct
