Nebraska inched closer Thursday to joining other states in a call for a special convention to make changes to the U.S. Constitution.
The measure won second-round approval in the Legislature despite objections from some lawmakers that it could lead to unintended consequences. One final vote is required.

Ugh - this is NOT the time to open that Pandora’s box.
Venezuela did the same thing and look at them.
I’m certain ANY elected delegates could be elected PROPERLY under the democrats’ rules
Iowa will have a CoS rally Tuesday, January 25. Headed up by Steve Deace and Rick Santorum.

You are correct, too dangerous under current conditions. If SCOTUS was honorable we wouldn't need this nonsense. Imagine if the "conservative" SCOTUS frat boys actually did their job. Roberts and Kavanaugh I'm talking to you!
I don’t think I could count enough people on one hand in the district of criminals to do the right thing.
This has been going on 20 years, its never going to actually happen.
Bueller? Which 6 or 8 blue states will vote to allow this so red state things can be accomplished?
1. Repeal the 16th amendment and replace the personal income tax with the NRST. Reiterate pre-16th understanding that the Feds shall impose NO direct tax on individuals. The policy must be to keep government at the State level wherever possible.
2. No federal welfare/assistance programs allowed (including agricultural subsidies and the like) except for block grants paid to the States. The feds of course could monitor administration, but again no direct relationship between the feds and beneficiaries of such programs.
3. End direct election of Senators and return to a Senate appointed but he State legislatures.
4. Nobody may vote in any federal election who has declared bankruptcy in the past 7 years, or is currently in jail, prison, probation, parole, or who has been convicted of a felony in the last 7 years preceding the election, or is receiving state assistance (welfare). We could expand this list.
5. All voting in all elections at the federal, state or local level, may only be by US citizens who present a proper, state-issued ID card. All voting must be in person, no exceptions.
6. The States may enforce federal immigration laws, and may deport illegals apprehended without federal consent (the feds abused this so long they need to be stripped of power).
7. The States may require a 2-year residency (now it's only 1 year) for new citizen arrivals to receive any benefit.
I think that this would fix a good deal

If you can think of somebody who is not Thomas you are doing better than I.
Maybe Alito.
I was thinking more along the lines of France 1789
States will send delegates/commissioners with detailed limits to their authority. They won’t send representatives. Big diff.
Now, if you don’t want to understand the difference, just keep voting. As if it matters.
There’s a wide political spectrum in the U.S. It runs from constitutionalist on the right to socialist on thee left. Now what do you think would happen if representatives from both sides sat down to change the Constitution?
And if you think the “delegates” will be any different than the “representatives” you think Liz Cheney is a fine and upstanding Republican who cares about the constitution.
Nebraska is attempting to apply for a convention using Georgia’s application language.
LOL.
Unintended consequences alert!
Our Unicameral is a glorified homeowners association....
