A new study finds bald eagle population is dropping due to them contracting lead poisoning
The birds eat organs left behind by hunters, which contain gunshot ammunition
Experts say other animals are feasting on the remains and are being poisoned
Bald eagles may have recovered from near extinction, but the birds are now at risk of another threat - lead poisoning.

MOST ARE KILLED BY “F”ING WIND MILLS!
The DDT claims appear to be a lie too: https://junkscience.com/100-things-you-should-know-about-ddt/#ref7
If they catch their own instead of stealing other people’s kills, they wouldn’t be having this problem.
Democrats.
BS!!!
Most hunters immediately gut the deer to cool it down quicker. Some also do it to get the two “tenders,” a pair of tasty little muscles inside the body cavity along both sides of the spine, kind of like filet mignon. Some hunters take the organs too, like the heart and liver.
Bald Eagles are both predator and scavenger. (They are also thieves.) They seldom turn down a free meal, but their diet is predominantly fish. While they do eat deer, it is usually roadkilled deer, which tends not to have lead in it. Fish, on the other hand, may be the real cause of ingested lead, due to the abundance of lead sinkers.
They don't. It's more likely from rats/roadkill that has been poisoned with rat pesticide.

This sounds like such B.S.
They just throw things up against the wall to see what sticks.
Did they discover that before or after the study?
Well more than likely they are down in pop near the windfarms where coyotes and foxes hang around for a free lunch.
Lol. “Experts!”
I don’t believe this for one minute.
Biden promises hundreds of new windmills to be installed all along the Eastern Flyway. I’d like to see the impact statement supporting the carnage they will do.
Greens...like watermelons... Green on the outside, red in the middle. Just sayin’
Proper handling of game in the field is to cool the meat as quickly as possible. The process starts by opening the abdominal cavity in order to remove all the viscera contained there while also gaining additional surface area for cooling. Removal of the hide also helps cool the body but that process is often delayed until the carcass can be hung for easier handling.
The author wrongly claims that the field-dress remains/viscera are the source of retained lead ammunition consumed by eagles when they scavenge after the hunters remove the carcass. As other posters have pointed out, modern rifle ammunition just isn’t there to be consumed.
We can’t hunt on the “king’s lands” anymore...
The same ones who want lightweight headline readers to believe that the bald eagle population has decreased by 6%.
The eagle population growth has dropped by 6%. That mean there are 94% more new eagles this year instead of 100% compared to previous trends.
Not true. I’ve seen Bald Eagles in Maryland and North Carolina recently. I’ve never seen them in the past. Hufe difference.
No body ever dressed my deer or elk. To keep the meat good the body heat needs to be absent. What we called field dressing the animal. Heart and liver are generally taken. I butcher my own animals. Eagle lead poisoning from hunters left overs is 🐂💩. Heat spoils meat. Got to cool the carcass and take care to keep the flys off. If you don’t want to eat it leave it alone. Wolves and coyotes excepted. IMFO
