A psychotherapist has claimed the trauma suffered by ancestors in the European witch hunts has harmed today's generation of women.
Cali White, from West Sussex, insists women have inherited 'self-destructive' behaviours like a 'deep-rooted mistrust' of other females and a 'fear of being heard or seen' after their forebears had to adopt the traits to survive the witch hunts.
During the Early Modern era - 1450 to 1750 - tens of thousands of women were executed as 'witches' across the continent.
Cali is a lead curator of an exhibition I am Witch - Tales from the Roundhouse, which is to be held at The Storey in Lancaster throughout January, and will explore claims that the witch trials left a 'wound in our collective psyche which still affects us today'.
She believes that the survival strategies of people's ancestors over 25 generations ago are now entrenched beliefs and behaviours that 'wreak havoc with our own health and well-being and can be extremely self-destructive'.
Recent studies have revealed that traumatic events can alter a person’s genetic make-up, meaning the effects can be carried through generations.

“Very few men hate women as much as women hate other women.”
Once worked at a place where I had to walk through a cubicle section that was all women. They had no shame talking among themselves and didn’t care who heard it. Sex and periods were common topics. You are correct on the women hatred. They pulled daggers when talking about women they didn’t like.
I take it, you're married?
She’s a WITCH!
in my case, I’ve had women managers who were just idiots and
anti-men. One of the last time was when my company (whom I love working for) merged with another company (whom we in the same company hated) and their manager, became our department manager. Right from the get-go, all men were the enemy. I surmised she just couldnt get laid and that frustration carried to the workplace.
I have been twice.
I’m not currently with anyone. Can’t tell you how safe I feel.
LOL

Going back years to find a reason why all females must be given permanent victimhood status.
In a way, I’m envious.
Been married twice also.
Women use sex, victimhood, and ego manipulation to trap and exploit men.
Most men don't see it coming.
That is the biggest load of BS I have seen since.... well the January 6th brouhaha.
I would doubt those number too.
Utter crap
I think it’s easy to pile on the idea of marriage. It facilitated
the worst moments of my life. It also facilitated the greatest
moments of my life.
There were two wonderful women I got to spend time with. I
had two beautiful incredible children, and now a handsome
incredible grandson. I was also able to live with two good
extended families, the relatives of my wives. I also met some
very interesting people and did some very interesting things
through the wives and those people.
There are positive aspects to being with someone, and if both
can focus on them and forget about the perceived differences,
they “can’t live with”, things can always be beautiful.
At times we are not capable of living above the worse parts
of us. We get fixated on negativity, and we sell ourselves short.
In the process we sell our kids out too.
If it weren’t for my age, I might give it a go again.
Pure projection.
“Very few men hate women as much as women hate other women.”
Ain’t that the truth. From my own observation, over and over again, I have seen that men can work well with other men, even when they don’t like each other. Men and women can work well together, although there are often some problems relating to sexual attraction, unrequited feelings, etc.
But women working with women? There is typically an incredible amount of hostility and sneaky back-stabbing. It almost seems instinctive, like they couldn’t even stop if they wanted to.
Ironic.
Women are the witch hunters. They gossip and rumor monger. They attack anyone who is weak, and that is often other women.
Oh women can violently kill your career just fine. They just do it differently.
I knew a manager who strongly disagreed with a female peer about how to proceed on an issue. She complained to HR that she "felt threatened" by his demeanor. BOOM! Re-assigned to a non managerial position.
I don’t know any women who have a “fear of being heard.”
I’ve worked in female-dominated environments much of my adult life. Four of the five items on that list sound like just about every woman I’ve every worked with, and that includes many women without any European ancestry whatsoever.
That “deep rooted mistrust of other women” and “the need to compete with other women” simply means that you have seen women living and working around women, by the way. I’ve watched snakepits with more trust. I’ve known a fair number of male a**holes, too, but if you want a workplace peppered with backbiting, revenge, and indirect vendetta, then let loose the Karens on staff and watch them sally forth.
