Commercials take up 27% of commercial television screen time and are the main source of income for TV and radio stations. In most cases, advertisements on all channels appear simultaneously, so don't try to change the channel, there will be commercials elsewhere, too. Nowadays they have also taken over the Internet. For a financial support, websites have to run ads on their pages, the largest share supplied and controlled by Google. Ads pry into your eyes, unceremoniously interfere with text, and on YouTube, in the most inappropriate places they cut into the action of films, lectures and concerts, tearing apart musical performances. There's no escaping commercials, we've grown accustomed to them, and they become almost as much a part of our lives as food, toilets, and sleep.
In the United States today, the White population (not including Hispanics) is 57.8%. In real life Caucasians are still in the majority, but now on TV and the Internet they are swept under the rug like trash. Blacks compose 14% of the U.S. population but appear in 50% of commercials. White actors now appear for promotion of health insurance, gold, loans and some medicines. Moreover, if a White person appears in a commercial, he/she is usually old, sick, a freak, or at the very least, an appendage to a Black partner. If there's a doctor on the screen, he's usually Black, while the patient is usually White. Caucasian young men appear in only 4% of the commercials! If some aliens began to study the population of Planet Earth through our TV commercials they would have a somewhat distorted picture of Americans, to put it mildly.
So why do advertisers ignore the long-standing rules of marketing, and to the detriment of their own financial interests,

I hate commercials and I wished they would do what they do in Germany. They show show nothing but commercials for 15 minutes and they are like entertainment. There are no commercials before or after.
What grabs me is the tv screen is so big now that the ads creep along the edges of the picture being displayed.
The static ones are bad, but the ones that are video REALLY tick me off!
And it seems that a light imaged ad always lands in a dark area of the screen and a dark ad on a light area. Just to make SURE the contrast differences are as distracting as possible.
Yep. Another reason I cut cable and only stream what I choose to watch, and use an adblocker online. Only advertisements I see or hear is the radio and what comes through my weekly snail mail, and it goes straight to the garbage.

In my travels I have also come to understand any marginalized, underserved and many african americans in academia are true believers in socialism because its their belief it will right the wrongs inflicted upon them by the white man and making everyone “ equal”.
Representatives of this mindset can be found in “ The Squad” but there are others in govt( for example) who believe this myth and are “undercover” & would never publicly admit it because it would damage their career in the white man’ s world.
If african american wanting upward mobility and social justice thru crt , imho it will never happen.
They are their own victims-because from what I have seen - there is always something in them that doesnt quite make the grade. For example, oblamo’ s continual mispronouncements of simple vocabulary words in speeches.
Another example is many black college grads go on to graduate studies but are only accepted by 3rd or 4 th tier schools. They graduate with sub-par knowlege and enter their chosen field simply by the colir of their skin.
There are truly intelligent individuals in the african american community who can compete on the larger playing field and they are respected as anyone else would be.
But to make my point more clear- it will always be something. Take for example Kim Fox of the Smollett fiasco and what she created- and that is not a standard to hold yourself up to - or the most recent appointment of a AG (?) in NYC , with his Harvard degree and personal crt political agenda by witholding information or discarding it completely for a recent arrest case. He is playing by his own rules and endorses defund the police movement.
Lately I ran across Darcel Clark AG for Bronx County. Her wiki entry on her career is the swiss cheese of incompetence and ignorance of the law.Nikole Hannah- Jones who wrote the laughable 1619 Project. She quotes from and presents this “ project” as FACTS , demands a academic position of her choosing and then publicly admits it is a work of fiction . Recently on twitter she stated “ it is what it is” not being able to give a date for the Civil War when it was pointed out to her she was in error.
I can provide more examples but the list is too long at this point in time.These type of people will never last in the long run and will show everyone in the long run they are incompetant. It will take another century for that to hapoen but only if those willing to step up on the larger playing field and achieve their goals through merit.

I was also wondering, why are they expecting on the one hand that this will change the country in some way, and on the other hand that nobody will notice and complain. After a while, I started to wonder whether the casting changes weren't actually intended to do nothing and change nothing, except generate enough complaints that the companies would feel that they had struck a blow for equity and social justice which would get the woke crowd off their backs.
A lot of people -- not just African-Americans -- felt left out by all the blondes and blondes in 1950s/1960s commercials, so there's sort of a history behind this. Similarly, if you think Whites are being kept out of the music industry now, talk to people who thought Blacks never got the respect and airplay that they deserved back in the mid-20th century. They had to be really good and push hard to get the fame they achieved. The problem today may have to do with the industry being stuck on rap, with nothing much in the way of new music to replace it.
I guess this is a transitional period and it's not clear what's going to replace it, but I suspect part of what's coming is fewer people watching commercial television and fewer people buying what it sells, and that's good.

I don’t think they’re trying to change anything. Other than the bottom line. There’s a whole bunch of people who consider representation important. And that’s not limited to any race. As you point out. They want to see “themselves” on TV. After decades of ignoring them casting agents are paying attention. I think that’s all they’re trying to do, get dollars from people who say “I’m not buying your product if I don’t see ‘me’ in your ad.” And given technology and such there’s probably a significant demographic change in who’s even seeing commercials. Are middle class white people even seeing non-sports live TV anymore? Commercials are for people on the technical outside, not streaming, not DVRing, not torrenting. I haven’t seen a demographic analysis of that but my gut says that group isn’t very white, and the white people in that group are probably all over 70.

I am a teacher, and for many years I taught senior English. We read Solzhenitsyn’s “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.” A great book, very accessible to a high school senior, and a good inoculation against leftist thinking.
We learned that communism sought to abolish private property. So I had everyone give me their backpacks, and I started to distribute the contents according to need. When students complained, they were sent to the office, where the assistant principal who was in on the lesson told the offended student the point of the exercise. It didn’t take long for the students to realize the futility of banning property in any society.
Then we had grades. I gave everyone a C, since that was average, and everyone shared the grades together. That lasted about three minutes until the smart ones realized what I was doing.
Just to mirror my colleagues who are cultural Marxists, I’m talking the long march through THEIR institutions. There’s actually a bunch of us out here, too. Some of the more virulent leftists I’ve run into have tried to give me the boot or file complaints. My strategy is to always up the ante and threaten them using the same teaching code of conduct they’re accusing me of violating. Bonus: afterwards, they no longer talk to me.
Then there was this one classroom in California where I had the 10-year-olds taking the California Achievement Test scribble across the race and ethnicity box, “This is racist.” That was in 1999! I had the largest achievement growth of any classroom in the school.
I tell me current principal that my father was willing to volunteer and risk death to fight the fascists, so experiencing discomfort in the workplace confronting the American version is the least I can do.
Somewhere out there, several thousand students are looking at the current madness of our culture with a vague feeling that it’s wrong, and maybe several dozen can articulate what to do in response and embrace Enlightenment values. That’s enough.

Thank you, but some things are best done quietly without fanfare. After all, that’s how the left has been able to conquer most of the institutions in our country, and while I despise the ideology of the left, their methods can and should be imitated. My favorite method comes from Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals concerning the use of ridicule against your opponents, and how it is almost impossible to defend against.
Here’s an example I’m using right now.
A lot of my really bright kids are fully invested in the woke agenda. So I ask them to search for “Biden sniffing hair” on YouTube. The young women are especially disgusted, but that’s not the punch line. Whenever something goes wrong, whether it’s a computer that won’t work right or book with a torn page or whatever, I’ll say, “Who do we blame?” The class will then laugh and respond, “Creepy Uncle Joe.”
Since my job description tells me that I am required to teach civic virtue (no joke, it’s right there), I remind students that the president works for us, and if we don’t like him, we can fire him when his contract is up in four years because our government works for us, and we’re the boss. I also remind students that their freedom to speak means that they have the right to mock any government official, at any time, for any reason, and it’s morally unacceptable to stop them from doing so.
I have one year left before I retire. I’m doing my part in my own way. And thanks for your kind words.

I saw an eye drop commercial with an asian dude driving a two seater. It is the only one with an asian I have ever seen in a while.
A lot of commercial have people that seem to defy the racial categories I know of. I call it racial andgrogyny. Some look positive a perfect mix of all races. The Lincoln Aviator commercial is a good example. I like to play guess their race.

Well the whole point of western civilization was to move past tribalism and advance as individuals. I guess that is over. Back to painting ourselves blue and wearing fur kilts....
The only difference I see is most nations are all wearing western clothing......and coveting everything materialistic we have here. Their cultural, religious, and politics stay about the same.
