Illinois is a great example of why people are running from blue states

People are moving from high tax Democrat-run states to states that are more welcoming to businesses and individuals. The way Illinois is run shows many reasons why.

In Illinois, the legislature schedules adjournment by May 31st and their salary is $69,464 per year. They also get substantial pensions and other benefits with a few years of service. They also get an extra salary if they are a leader or head of a committee. The legislature is very generous to itself.

This year, they are scheduling adjournment by early April so they can campaign. My guess is their opponents don’t get taxpayer-paid time off to campaign.

They will probably have fewer than 30 scheduled legislative days this year for their salary. They will make as much for a few days in session as the median family makes in Illinois in a year

According to the Census ACS 1-year survey, the median household income for Illinois was $69,187 in 2019

The Democrats can actually get things done with just their two leaders. They control what goes in and out of committees and what is voted on.

In the state House, Democrats have 73 out of 118 seats or 62%. In the state Senate, the Democrats have 41 out of 59 seats or 69%.

But the power is never enough for Democrats. They draw district maps to get rid of Republicans. Somehow, Eric Holder and others haven’t sued or complained about Democrats who draw their maps.

Eric Holder to Lead Democrats’ Attack on Republican Gerrymandering

The Illinois Constitution requires a balanced budget, yet Illinois has run up hundreds of billions in actual debt and unfunded pension and health liabilities.

Unfortunately, some of these people moving into red states will soon forget the destruction their voting habits brought upon their state. Besides I can vouch and say that the majority that are moving from California to Texas are going to blue cities. San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas, etc those cities are having a population explosion from blue state invaders. The crown and glory is Austin where it has totally become another liberal antifa breeding ground! The numbers are unprecedented here in Texas and I’m afraid that it could shift Texas into the blue column. Believe me folks it’s getting scary down here.

We left Illinois in 2020 and moved to Missouri. For years, we had talked about moving, having been frustrated with the overall tax burden in Illinois and with Chicago politicians basically running the state. However, it was Governor Pritzker’s ridiculous Covid mandates that spurred us to finally make the move.

Working virtually is going to kill big cities. Families will move somewhere life can be easier.

WA state legislature and govt is also a wasteful farce.

WA state legislature and gGovt is also a wasteful farce.

Fixed that for you. All government at every level today is a wasteful farce. There is no limited government anywhere in America at any level. No government at any level is responsible to the taxpaying citizens. We are subjects.

Usually the first people to leave the sh!t-holes are the most conservative ones.

It's hard to believe that Indiana actually voted for Obama in 2008.

Within just a few years, transplanted businesses and productive workers from Illinois helped make it one of the most reliably "red" states in the U.S.

Then they vote for the same thing in the state they have infested.

Virginia was ruined by people fleeing the northeast.

“Within just a few years, transplanted businesses and productive workers from Illinois helped make it one of the most reliably “red” states in the U.S.!”

One of my wife’s nephews about 15 years ago started working
as an engineer in Indiana 4 days /week and came home in N. Illinois 3 days a week. He did that to get out of the B$ from Chicago and the Illinois state Capitol.

He and his wife have kept their nice Illinois home 2 hours plus from Chicago.

Their 2 sons had scholarship offers (sports and brain power) from both Illinois and Indiana. They turned down the Illinois offers and were graduated from good engineering schools in Indiana. They both stayed in Indiana after being graduated in spite of Illinois job offers.

One son did commute a couple of days per week to Chicago via a passenger train. He stopped that after Covid. He does the Chicago work from his home and office in Indiana.

They will never return to Illinois to live.

Virginia was ruined because the biggest employer in the state is the FedGov and the people who want that kind of job move there.

That applies to northern VA, but in the Richmond area it has been people from the northeast, not connected to Fedzilla.

It is galling that these leaving include too many pathetic imbeciles, who after they move vote for the same people and policies that they are now fleeing.

As I was growing up, Oregon was a commonsense state. Now it has a left-wing perpetual super majority in the legislature because of Californians. Oregon had its last Republican governor in 1987. Tom McCall, who was governor until 1975, made a point of telling people they could visit Oregon but were not welcomed to move and he was a Democrat. I have had a chance to see the state degenerate being born here in 1946.

I have a friend who has been involved in Arizona politics for decades and he has seen the state changed from red to purple. He regrets the best they can do now is elect a RINO like McCain.

I hope Texas or Florida can be an exception, because that is where we intend to move.

I don’t see liberals as thinking people. I see them as feeling people. Many are bright, right to the point of being brilliant. Still, I see most as feeling, rather than thinking.

Conservatives will move to a state because it is a good fit. We then don’t want to change it too much. It is already a good fit. We are going to try to fine tune it, but not make wholesale changes.

Liberals move to a state because it is pretty or it is warm or they like some feature. Then they spend the rest of their lives making wholesale changes aimed at everything they don’t like, because they didn’t really think their move through very thoroughly.

Hmmm. Do they by chance use Dominion Voting software on their machines?

Not sure, but since McLame endorsed Caliph Baraq, can you blame the voters?

I don’t understand ILL.

Primary used to be in March. Now in June.

Newman running in 6th, not 3rd. Why?

They moved the primary so they would have more time to gerrymander.

The new 3rd (I’m in it) is a Hispanic seat and Newman’s name is “Newman”, not “Hombrenuevo”, she has a better chance in the 6th.
