Why do Republicans keep winning?
Bozemandailychronicle.com ^ | 1/3/21 | John M. Crisp

Here’s a striking conundrum: Why, in the world’s essential democracy, do we Americans tolerate such a large gap between what we want and what we actually get?

We could illustrate this in several ways. For example, we could note the remarkable discrepancy between Americans’ attitudes toward gun control and our actual gun laws.

Or we could consider the issue of abortion. A Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted Nov. 7-10 found that 60% of Americans believe that Roe v. Wade should be upheld. Seventy-five percent said that the question of abortion should be decided by a woman and her doctor. Only 20% said that the government should regulate the procedure.

And yet during oral arguments before the Supreme Court on Dec. 1 in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, conservative justices signaled clearly their willingness to overturn Roe v. Wade when the Court rules on the case next summer. If it does, abortion will become illegal in many states, as it already is, in practical terms, in Texas.

But there’s no reason for surprise. Candidate Donald Trump was clear and emphatic in a debate with Hillary Clinton just weeks before the 2016 election: He said that he would nominate to the Supreme Court only justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade.

These people live in a bubble.

They live by polls, and believe them.

Yet it is actual elections that are the REAL reflection of where the people are, especially in local and state legislatures. But the author pays no attention to those.

Republicans have controlled the majority of state legislatures for the past ten years, at its peak, two-thirds of them, along with 30 out of 50 governors.

But if you live in a city, as all of these reporters do, you think that abortion, climate change, transgenders and illegal aliens are the greatest things ever.

The author will be shocked again this coming November, and will likely again ask "why are republicans winning?"

The same polls show partial birth and late term abortions should be banned.

How come the marxists don’t follow that?

The Democrats seem extremely put out that their dreams of a communist dictatorship haven’t come true as quickly as they had hoped. Feels like they’re getting mad about it.

This dude lives in Bozeman MT - home to one of the most corrupt unions in the land.

Yet he cries about abortion rights in other states, after arguing that it should not be a federal matter based on a fake push poll by WaPo-ABC?

My question is, Where are all the conservative policies if the (hated) Pubbies keep winning all the time?

Something else is going on, I suspect.

John M. Crisp is a complete idiot.

The five smallest states, with a combined population of 3.5 million, have 10 senators, while the most populous state, California, with its 40 million, has only two.

They were to be elected by those states legislatures and the Senate was intended to be a legislature of the states legislatures.

These people live in a bubble.

They live by polls, and believe them.

They live by lies, believe in lies, and lie to themselves all the time.

They are delusional, and want to be deceived.

Leftists do not protest political policies. They protest against reality.

They don’t need justices from the Supreme Court.

If they want abortion so bad then all they have to do is ratify the constitution with the approval of two thirds of the states.

So they need to convince 36 states to go along with their baby killing madness.

People are polling for the lesser of evils again, and electing them is exactly how we got in this mess in the first place.

They keep saying to themselves the next batch of GOPe majorities are going to be different.

This would be akin to Einstein’s definition to insanity.

The end of the article says that 'this dude' lives in Georgetown, TEXAS.

I don't care where he lives {as long as it's not near me}.

The end of the article says that 'this dude' lives in Georgetown, TEXAS.

And this Georgetown is a north suburb of Texas' most California-ized city, Austin, the Capital of Texas! Ever so many LEFTists there with the dream of turning Texas Blue but will settle, in the short run, for Purple!

Thanks for actually clicking on the link and reading the article!

After doing the same, I realize that he is just another syndicated columnists being sold by his master The Tribune Syndicate. At least we know that he sold out to the Man.

No Democrat can run successfully on a platform of higher taxes and bigger government.

An actual quote from this per-word hack. Which is why the Dems and their lackeys keep lying about their motivations and policies.

And why the media will keep lying about their soul mates, the Democratic Party (in Texas and beyond).

Wha wha wha...
So things don’t go as you want, so it must be an attack on what you are trying to call democracy (people who were taught to reason and think would call it socialism or totalitarianism.).

This would be funny in a very sad way. Maybe Monte Python could have pulled it off.

Republicans have a winning message and the other side has a losing attitude and a communist mind/leftist mind.

Look at the loser Biden and the first blunder is the Afghanistan issue is to withdraw like this worthless withdrawal to take place.

One of the things is we need to replace our military leaders with folks who understand the enemy.

The Mooselimbs understand strength and we did not show any strength whatsoever.

Why don’t they ever ask the question, “Should the Federal Government financially support the efforts of abortion providers (like PP) or actually pay, or help pay for, abortions?”

Change your frame of reference: In America you are free to arrive at your own conclusions and make your own reality — or at least you used to be. For too many people everything has a political solution that can only be satisfied by the government taking stuff from other people and giving it to them.
