Harry Reid, former Senate majority leader and Democratic kingmaker, dies at 82
Harry Reid, who rose from abject poverty in rural Nevada to become one of the most influential state and national leaders, died on Tuesday, sources confirmed to The Nevada Independent. He was 82.
Additional details were not immediately available.
Reid was thought to be ending the near of his life when he underwent surgery in 2018 for pancreatic cancer, which has one of the lowest survival rates. Last summer, however, Reid announced that he underwent an experimental surgery and was declared in “complete remission” and cancer-free.
Over more than three decades of service in Congress, Reid earned a reputation for fighting relentlessly to protect his home state and everyday Americans. As Senate Democratic leader for a dozen years, he played an instrumental role in passing the Affordable Care Act and shepherding through Congress pivotal economic recovery legislation in the wake of the Great Recession.

All this rising from poverty to become a big shot crap has not produced good results, over all, I think. Makes for hungry, unprincipled demagogues with no regard for basic decency. But we’d have to study history to test the hypothesis and see if it bears out. This is just my gut feeling. Evita Peron, Adolf Hitler, Huey Long, Bill Clinton and Harry Reid are examples that spring to mind. They weren’t born into poverty, per se, but fell into it for the most part. Hitler wanted to be an artist, Eva wanted to be an actress, Bill Clinton’s natural father died in a car crash and he was raised by an abusive alcoholic. Huey Long, I don’t know the details, just read part of an old novel There’s a Lion in the Street partially based on his life.

The Mafia will probably send flowers.
But will that be because they are sad or because they are glad that he's gone?

On January 1, 2015, Reid was injured while exercising in his home—he said a piece of equipment he was using broke (later "slipped"), causing him to fall. As a result, Reid suffered broken ribs and broken facial bones, and was at risk of permanent vision loss in his right eye.[126] On January 26, 2015, Reid underwent surgery to remove a blood clot from his right eye and repair facial bones.[127] Reid later sued for damages a company he claimed manufactured the device, alleging the device was defective, but in 2019 a jury rejected his claim for lack of evidence.[128][129]

Nah, no prayers for him. He was a POS who caused many people a lot of grief for no other reason than political power.
Not going to pretend otherwise just because he died.

...and considered a good example of a Mormon. No "Mormon" who knew him considered him to be a good example, unless they were family members. He was a hypocrite, and nothing more.
Also, to put the correct name to the church, he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
