Hispanic Voters in This Pennsylvania City Are Shifting Toward the GOP. Both Parties Want to Know Why
WSJ ^ | Dec 28 | By Aaron Zitner

READING, Pa.—Joseph Nuñez at first didn’t like Donald Trump. “I couldn’t stand the guy. I didn’t like the way he spoke about Hispanics or people in general,” he said. But by 2020, Mr. Nuñez had become a fan of Mr. Trump’s style and priorities, and he voted in favor of giving the president a second term.

So did many other Latino voters in this working-class city who had once backed Democrats or, like Mr. Nuñez, had skipped elections altogether. Now, as political strategists continue to sift through the 2020 election results, the emergence of these newly Republican voters is setting off alarm bells within the Democratic Party.

Nationwide, Mr. Trump’s share of the Latino vote grew by 8 percentage points compared with 2016, an analysis by Catalist, a Democratic voter-data firm found earlier this year. New calculations by the firm find that while then-candidate Joe Biden won 61% of Latino voters, the shift toward the GOP meant that he carried the group by about 750,000 votes less than had Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee four years earlier.

That erosion is a danger sign for the party, given that President Biden’s winning margin in five states was less than 100,000 votes.

....

“The economy, the issue on which they trusted Trump, unlocked the door to embracing him,” Mr. Odio said.

At the same time, many Latino voters came to view the Democratic Party as untethered from their top concerns—unsupportive of law enforcement, too lax on border security and too focused on racial disparities, said Ruy Teixeira, a demographics expert and co-editor of The Liberal Patriot newsletter. Among other things, this brought the GOP new votes from Hispanic voters who have a conservative bent but hadn’t acted on it, he said.

The WSJ thinks this’ll have republican voters clamoring to open the borders even wider.

Democrats are insane.

Democrats are evil.

The Democrats don’t know if they’re male or female, and on which days of the week.

The Democrats are hostile to work, achievement and bettering oneself, since they believe working is beneath the dignity of a victim.

The Democrats believe people of color are inherently inferior and are in need of a quota based, sheltered workshop life plan.

Democrats are pro-criminal, anti-police, anti-small business, anti-family, and anti-citizen.

Why are Hispanics shifting politically? Choose one of the above. Or all of the above.

Correction:

Joseph Nuñez at first didn’t like Donald Trump. “I couldn’t stand the guy. I didn’t like the way LIBERALS FALSELY ACCUSED HIM ABOUT HOW he spoke about Hispanics or people in general”.

Two of the principal values of a large segment of Hispanics are: hard work and love of family. Those values no linger fit in the DemonRat party.

Most Hispanics, and by that I mean mestizos especially, are very unimpressed by soft urban whites, hostile negroes and homosexuals… the three of whom are the triumvirate of the dem party

“These voters aren’t shifting to the GOP.
They shifted to Trump.
The GOP ignores this fact at its peril.”

Trump opened the door and invited them to come to the party.

If the republicans can split the hispanic vote with the Democrats and somehow increase their Black vote to 20% or better, the Democrats will cease to be a viable party.

The dems worst nightmare. First, they’re losing the blacks bigly, and now the Latinos are starting to turn. “We’re gonna need a bigger fraud!”

My guess is that Hispanics love their families, probably more than today’s European descendants, and thus hate the crime and moral degeneracy pushed by the Democrats.

As others have noted, many Hispanic groups resemble the Italians, who have assimilated very successfully.

Now, as political strategists continue to sift through the 2020 election results

They're analyzing the "results" the wrong way.

Also wide spread voter theft exists in black controlled inner cities.

Amazing how "record numbers of blacks" in inner cities turned out in 2020 to beat the record 2008 turnout for Obama.

It's almost as if the blacks are racist, and like senile old white basement guys.

Or somebody is voting for them...

Atlanta & Philadelphia alone are often enough to swing Pennsylvania and now Georgia to blue. But best we keep quiet so as not to offend the thieves.

You’ve nailed it and I agree absolutely.

If you observe the protests it’s generally black woman with the mega phones.....
BTW Black woman are often not raised to be independent.....they know their options are limited even with an education. Welfare IS their career choice.

The Wall Street Journal and the Cato Institute have been telling Republicans that Hispanics are natural Conservatives since the early 1980s.

How well did Reagan do with Hispanics in his 1984 landslide reelection - 34%.

How well did George W. Bush (Mr. Amnesty) do with Hispanics in his 2004 reelection - 40%.

Please note - the National Election Pool (NEP) originally claimed Bush got 44% - it took almost four years for various polling experts to force NEP to revise that down to 40%.

How well did Donald Trump do with Hispanics in his 2020 reelection bid - 32%.

The NEP presidential election poll has been used by every major news organization in the USA since 1976.

In the last 12 elections, there is zero evidence that consequential numbers of Hispanics are going to start voting for Republicans.

Because Hispanics tend to be “men with chests” in the CS Lewis understanding of the term. This is in contrast to Chinese and Indian Americans who too often intellectualize their way into supporting the Dems no matter what.

Keep in mind that much of this swing among Hispanics in parts of the northeast is due to Trump as well as a backlash against BLM. Sadly mi esposa is not in this group.

The GOP wouldn’t understand it even if they got the Cliff Notes version.
